I'm going on a "training trip" to California with my tennis team and I'm thinking about taking my xbox. Should I pack it up really well and check it with the rest of my luggage, or take it as a carry on? Do you think it will cause any problems either way? I know baggage handlers tend to throw suitcases around a little bit so I'm kind of leary about putting it in my suitcase, although I know i could pack it pretty well.

we have four matches over seven days which means we'll have A LOT of down time where we won't be able to go anywhere. Not to mention most of us are Top Spin fanatics

DO NOT CHECK IT! When they unpack your suitcase to shuffle through your stuff, they will not put 1/15th as much effort into making sure everything is secure and protected.

My gf's mother brought one of thoes big george foreman grills with them for an xmas gift on the flight and decided to check it in.
When they opened up the suitcase, the grill was in like 5 pieces.

If you really NEED to bring it, carry it on.

Aww jeez live without it for a while.

I agree... too much fun to be had on trips to bring along the xbox
You guys have no idea where he's going, or the limitations he'll be under (financial, logistical, supervisioral, etc...) so there's no way you can judge whether or not bringing it is beneficial. He says it is, so I'll have to go with that.

I wouldn't have a problem checking it. Just pack it well. You aren't planning on bringing a light gun, are ya? ;)

I usually pack my ps2 in my suitcase, never had any problems. I use the ps2 box wrapped with a towel though. I've also brought a dreamcast onto the plane with me, no problems there either.

Yeah, I was bringing some crack onto a plane, and I had to mark it "NOT ANTHRAX"... :frown:

I have taken mine on a plane several times as carry-on and haven't had any problems, except last time they checked it for explosive dust. Xbox is a tank so either way it should be fine but I would go with carry-on.
