Taking the Test to get my Driver's Permit Friday

I sure hope it's easy. Some people have told me that it's incredibly easy, that it's just common sense. Other people are like "oh, it's not that bad, but you do need to study quite a bit." I'm reading through this Illinois Rules of the Road book they gave us...I hope it's easy, cause that would be pretty embarrasing to not get the A (you have to get an A to get your permit) and then be stuck in a weird situation to try and retake it.

well yea some are common sence, some arent, for example i got the slipper road and curved road signs messed up. study the signs. and theres also questions on numbers. like how long it takes for your body to digest a normal amouth of alcohol or somethin like that. these things you dotn really know from common sence.

The test in MN is incredibly easy. The driving school I went to gave a practice test that was 100 questions, and the official test was only 20.

Yeah everybody tells me "oh, it's fine, really easy...AS LONG AS YOU STUDY." That's what makes me nervous. I'm reading the manual and everything, but I'm just worried that they're gonna ask ridiculously specific and detailed questions, and I will not be able to remember some number or something somewhere.

I just don't want be the one kid who doesn't get the A, and doesn't get the permit. 😱 That would be beyond embarrassing, and a hassle.

I passed. 🙂

I got 54/55 right. Incidentally, the one I got wrong, I had right the first time (damn second-guessing). If I had left it alone, I would have gotten a perfect score.

Oh well, permit comin' my way in a couple weeks. 😀

<< You'll be fine. If you can figure out how to surf the internet you can drive a car. >>

Totally...I don't know how people fail that anymore

<< Congratulations. In MN, they give you your permit on the spot. >>

Not if you're a youngster. Youngsters have to test to get a permit but adults just get one.

I know in RI here, the test is 20 common sense questions, and that's it. No time limit taking it either. I know (and this is sad) Because I just took it. It's sad, because I'm 28, and just now trying to get my license. It was extremely easy, the book to study for it is 22 pages, and real basic. I got 19/20 or a 95. I got the Stop sign question wrong (SAD!) 😛

It is incredibly easy, at least it was here in Minnesota 🙂

And yes, you get your permit right on the spot... granted having a permit sucks anyways... (it's the real license that matters anyways)

Here in Oregon, I didn't read the book at all and only got 1 question wrong. It was all common sense and stuff you learn from just riding around in a car.

when i took it in CT it was really easy and i passed the first time, then i moved to az and they made my take it again, and i failed it 2 times. there are all these non common sense questions like "how many this and that and this and that and all these questions are BS" so i failed. then the last time i took it i studied really hard and wrote down everything from the study book so i could study during school and i passed.

Lucky you. I had 55 questions, and a 100+ page booklet to study from. How did you miss the stop sign question? 😉

Yeah, that's what made me nervous initially. I had to know all the crap like, 12 inches from the curb when parallel parking, dim your brights 500 ft before meeting oncoming traffic and 300 ft before following, 100 ft turn signal, 15 ft from fire hydrant, 1,000 ft clearance for U-turn, 4 secs following in fog/rain, etc etc. Who remembers this crap? As my dad put it, the problem with all those numbers is 95% of people couldn't properly estimate what 500 ft in front of them or whatever is. Then there were the "physics questions" which sucked to study for. Knowing how long it would take your car to stop if it were going such and such mph and you had such and such reaction time, etc. Ugh.

But oh well, as I said, I don't care anymore cause I got a 54/55. 🙂

Oh, and by the way, is EVERYONE here from MN? lol
