no photogs here?

I'm doubting the OP is a "photog". Let's see your current efforts...

It's a pretty good camera. I've got D70 as well as a D200, and the D70 kept me happy for quite a while. The differences between the 70 and 70s are very, very minute. Quality wise, it never let me down. It's not made extremely well. The shutter blew after 6 months and about 2 months ago the camera fell apart after falling 3 ft to the ground. But I was overall pretty happy with it.

I found it somewhat small for my hands, especially with no (nikon-made) vertical grip available. The battery lasts forever and a day.

I'm picturing a $1,500 paperweight here. No pics to prove otherwise...

I've had my D70 for almost a year and haven't had a single prob.

KICKASS CAMERA!

Canon 20D is better and if you don't have lenses already I would recommend it over the D70.

Oh and yes I'm a "Photog"

I would get a Olympus E-1. They can be had with a lens for less than 800 and they are built like a TANK!

EDIT: E-1

Magnesium-alloy body with environmental sealing (splash proof)

What the hell are you talking about? The OP bumped his own post, then you quoted him and started ranting about random crap.

My Photo Editor just bought that for himself. He was really happy to own it until I told him about the 18-200 VR existed. But he seems very happy with the image quality. The images I've seen are very nice.

I've seen a few people spend HUGE bucks on DSLRs, and shoot nothing with them... NOTHING. They shoot four or five flowers, then it sits on a shelf...
