It's not necessarily bad manners to ask your guest to remove their shoes at your house, maybe a little quirky for such a large group though! But what you do not want to do is just 'spring' it on your arriving guest the day/night of the party. Make sure your guest know ahead of time "no shoes in house" so they can plan ahead, wear nice socks, get a pedicure, wear the pantyhose that haven't burst through at the toe seam etc.Originally posted by: miri
My wife is having a party for her 26th birthday next month and is inviting around 40 people. I know about 10 of the people. The thing is I make people take their shoes off. We had a big argument about this and im wondering if it is bad manners to request people take off their shoes. No, I dont think the people are dirty but I cant help think of where everyone walks. Ive walked through many a pee soaked public bathroom floors and I think of is that when I think of shoes walking around everywhere on my carpet. Am I bad mannered to request people take off their shoes?

I would like to stop by this party with 2 big trash bags and steal all the shoes by the door.

Bah. I wouldn't have a floor in my house I can't walk on with shoes. It's like having a couch you can't sit on with pants.
