Taking screen shots of a movie in Windows Media Player?

I take a screen shot of a movie playing on WMP, which saves a BMP, and then I open up the BMP and I see the screen shot, but if I close WMP, I lose the shot in the BMP (there is just that black purplish color where a movie should be). It's the weirdest thing. How can I go about saving a screen shot of a movie?

Temporarily turn off the hardware acceleration in WMP so it won't use hardware overlay to display the image. Remember to turn it back on later.

You can also try a program like HyperSnapDX.

I don't know if I read this here or a different forum, but I heard it has something to do with hardware acceleration being turned 'on'
