I am following Artic Silver's instructions to take off the thermal pad off the retail P4 HSF, and the dang thing won't come off.

I took off the pad itself but there's still some on it. I'm using alcohol like they recommend and it won't come off. what shoud I do?

all it's doing right now is spreading out even more...I try using something in plastic but it won't come off. there isn't much there, just enough so the surface is black.

edit: I rubbed my arms out and now it's just a very light black. i guess it's ok now

For my friend's Intel retail heatsink I used Nail polish remover with Acetone. Use something to scrap it off. Clean it really good. Then I dryed it using nice cloth. I took out some sand paper and then polish/lapped it off. Apply some Artice Silver 3, then wipe if off as instructed by Artic silver's web site. Applied a thin coat on the intel cpu metal part. Dropped in, booted it up. I notice 4 to 7 degrees drop in temperature, depends on the time of day.
