Make sure the study guides you have are recent... the test was dramatically changed this year.

I'm about ready to take mine, too... and all I've learned from studying is really random stuff like details on the pins of a floppy drive, etc. I guess I have a good understanding of the workings of the CPU/NB/SB now, so at least I've learned something.

Anyone know if the Mike Meyer's 5th Edition book is up to date? What was changed this year? :/

It's 2003 copyrighted, everything on CompTIA's website listed under study materials is 2003 or 2002...

I really don't think this test will trouble me at all, but if there are a bunch of obscure questions that's going to piss me off. I can't afford to throw $200-300 away.

Does A+ really help a lot for getting in the door? Being able to pass the test doesn't necessarily prove anything about your ability to troubleshoot a PC, but I'm hoping it will at least get me interviews. I will have a Bachelor's degree in under two years, but until then, it's really damn hard to find a job in IT. I need to get in somewhere to start getting job experience so that I can actually get a good position after graduation, but it's hard because 1) the job market here is terrible and 2) it's not very easy to get a job when you have no certification or degree in that field. I have an AA in Sociology, but that's pretty much worthless, it was obtained just for the credits to transfer to another school.

It's funny, I originally wanted to go into IT/CS, and after changing majors about 4 times in my freshman and sophomore years, I'm back to the beginning and I'm sure of it this time.

How do you prove to an employer that you know what you're doing? I see some of the guys that are making $15+ at schools here, installing and maintaining systems on the school network, and many of them don't have a damn clue what they're doing, but since they have the magical piece of paper, they've got the advantage. Do I have to just suck it up until graduation?

A lot of HR people have no idea how to see who knows what other then by the A+, MCSE, etc... cert's. So no they might not get you the job, but they will probable get you past HR and a interview with a Tech person.

I'm...not sure how to WORK that site. Where is the information you'd need for A+ stuff? Seems like it just has a bunch of ads to third party sites?

Okay, that's cool. I just don't understand the heading system they use, I guess.

"220-221 Braindumps"

What does '220-221' mean?
