Taking it easy on sales people...

Lately the local Honda dealer has been emailing me every other day. The emails aren't specifically to me, they are just generic inventory updates. I have been getting something similar once a week from the local Lincoln dealer.

Previously, I would email these sales guys back and tell them to eat shit for obviously buying my address from somewhere and spamming me but some part of me has just been ignoring the solicitations recently. I guess knowing that there is someone on the other end who's probably struggling to make a sale in the recession has softened me up a bit. Car sales are down for everyone, not just the Big Three and lots of folks depend on those sales for their living. I'm not planning to buy a car but I don't want to make the guy feel like shit either.

Anyway, that's it.

Nah, I just let them hit the spam folder now - I don't care that much. I run my own Exchange server at home. 🙂

I have one sales guy that didn't take the hint after I told him "We are not looking to buy right now, thanks". He still calls at least once a week. So since he didn't get it the first time I keep having him requote different equipment for the same purpose.

Calls are a different story. I still tell folks not to call me, the annoyance factor is huge with calls for me and I have to tell them to die.

cool story brah..

and yes i still get some because i shopped around before i got my honda fit - i just ignore em

If you ask people not to call you then your response the next time they call is guilt free. However, I wouldn't be pissed at the first email/call because I do understand what sales people go through.

Uh, why not ask to be removed from their mailing list?

I pissed on somepolitician's youtube vid (I was the first comment) because he campaign somehow got my email address and i'm sick of receiving them.
