Taking Digital Photos and editing them

I have been taking all my digital pictures with the highest resolution on my camera thinking I will get the best pictures that way. But now I want to put a bunch of them together but their all too big and if I resize them they look grainy. I have tried using Adobe Photoshop is there something better to use? Thanks

You should resize them but make sure you deselect "Resample Image".

once I resize them and then cut them to add to a larger picture they are way too big, it is as if they were never resized
