I saw it on HBO a couple weeks ago. Thought it was very well done and portrayed the side of war often unseen by much of the public.
 
I just saw this on DVD and was crying along with my wife for half the movie. Kevin Bacon was excellent in it.

I remember an NPR interview with the author who described the numerous aspects of the casualty affair officer's job and some poignant moments.

I recently buried a Soldier in April so this really hit home. All the behind the scene stuff that has to occur, that really does have an emotional toll for everyone involved, is usually not portrayed on film. This film showed some of that and it showed it without a political slant, I think.

It?s worth buying.
