I know! spend there 4 yrs 🙁. However, CO will surprise you. Kinda feeling sorry for you as you will probably miss the green of summer months.

Moo... 🙂
At least Co,WY and UT have mountains to look at.
California you have farms, rolling hills, orchards of several different types and Mt. Shasta looming as you get closer to Redding.
If you have time (and the weather is good) I sugest you go up to the town of Mt. Shasta take some pictures and eat at the Black Bear Cafe.

I just did Reno -> Charleston SC, was 2916 miles and 4 days of boring driving.

Have fun...

why not just take a flight instead of driving, and potentially falling asleep behind the wheel?

A little while ago I did a 2200 mile trip straight------>Thread Link/pics

Recently went from Reno to Denver straight, and also Reno/South Lake Tahoe to Minneapolis. Book on tape/CD are awesome!!

Because I was moving and taking my sh!t with me.

Just entered Wyoming a few miles back. http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/dartworth/DSC_0355.JPG

I've been driving since this morning around 8 EST or so.

We are in a Ford 3500 pickup....the 4 door model. I think they call it a king cab or something.

This desiel engine is nice quiet and has no problem pulling a 10K pound trailer.

I am also tracking our position with a BT GPS unit and using MS Mappoint. I also have iGuidance installed on the laptop too...

Leaving in about an hour or so.

Looks like I-80 all the way to Sacramento.

Anyone know of anything interesting to see along I-80 west?

I hope I can find some hotspots to get my fix😉

Then again, I always have my cell connection🙂

Map of Route

cool.. hope u rented a car w/unlimited miles.

and the purpsoe of the trip is...?

Drove thru Salt Lake City last night. Pretty sweet looking city at night time. A very large sprawling city too...

The mountains are great and really something to look at and take it. I'm a flatlander myself... so this is pretty cool😉

We are about an hour east of Reno.

Just entered California and heading up 395 north. ETA is about 3 hours.🙂

THe weather is about 50 degrees and light rain.

Does it really make sense to go down through Sacramento like that?

Yes. The Sierra Nevada mountain range doesn't have alot of major passes. To get to a good pass closer to the destination you'd have to do alot of driving on small, tight roads which would take more time than just driving through Sacramento.

We headed up 395 right out of Reno so we didn't dip down to Sacramento.

We are about 100 miles from Redding.

Get to Redding drop off the equipment and then head back to Reno. May stay in Reno for the night.

Alive and well in Redding, CA. Finally made it.🙂

Ran into a little snow in the mountains on 44. People using chains with a few inches of snow on the ground...maybe they are for ice::shrug::

Anyways, we made it fine with 4WD.

Not sure where are heading to next.
