I just want to cut out a little 3 second clip on an mp3 and put it into .wav format. What software do I need to do this?

What I usually do for something like this is use the "Diskwriter" plug-in in the "output" section of the preferences menu in Winamp. This converts the mp3 to wav. Then I use a wav editor to cut out the section I want and save it as a file. Then you can delete the rest of the wav file.

Or instead of using a seperate wav cutter program, you can just play the section you want, and then stop winamp.

Look for a copy of "goldwave".... it is great (allows you to string lots of waves or mp3's into one wav file). Winamp should have worked for you also though...?

Let us know if you are successful.

hell you can do that with winamp and sound recorder, which is built into windows.
