I have a weird problem.

Specs:
E6300 3Ghz @ 1.36V
Asus P5B Dlx 0910 Bios.
2x1GB Crucial Anniversary edition Sticks.
7900GTX
3x Sata Hard drives. OS is on a Seagate 7200.10 320GB
Enermax 460W power Supply
Win Xp Pro

My system is 20 Hour Orthos stable (blend).

The problem is when I restart my computer it can take up to 10 minutes for desktop to load. It stays on my background (which is just simple teal color). I have to wait about 10 Minutes for desktop to load. After which, the computer performs fine.

Sometimes, the desktop loads up immediately. It's very inconsistent and I can't seem to narrow down the problem.

Do you guys have any pointers or solutions for me?

Thanks

first, haveyou defragmented lately? i like to use TuneXP and use it to do the ultra fast booting thing. i find that it really does help. my computer (AXP-M 2400+ OC'ed to 2.2Ghz, ASUS A7N8X-X, 768MB generic RAM, WD 80GB IDE hdd) boots up in around 30 seconds.

also, have you considered hibernate?

I had the same problem. It turned out my Java installation was fubared. That might be your problem as well.

Had a similar issue, it was my router, believe it or not. It would take 10+ mins to assign an IP, and that whole time my system would sit there waiting.

Try unplugging your network cable and rebooting. If it's fast then your issue is your router/switch/whatever assigns you an IP.

Thanks guys, I will try to reinstall Java as well as network assign issue. If it is the network, I guess DHCP will have to be disable and a manual IP in order.

I'll keep you posted.

I'll take a SS of the processes when I get home tonight. I could be that it is looking for something on the network, though I have not installed anything that requires it.
I have however about 15GB of shared files, mostly music and videos that other computers in the house can access.
