2 Alienware systems. Both with the exact same spec and features, accessories and extras.
1 system is from the UK, and the other USA.
Look at the price difference.

The UK set up costs $1,200 more. wtf is going on?

UK

USA

(couldnt save the webpage where it showed the configurated system i did, it reseted itself.)

There not specced differently, i matched them up perfectly. and it doesnt matter about the exchange rate because on the currency calculator it states that the cost of the UK system in pounds is £3000 which converts to $4,893. But the US system which is the same as the UK one is $3900. So £3000 compared to $3900 = UK buyer pays $1000 more for the same system then in the USA.

Either way, 4 or 5 grand is way to much for a computer. Hell, you can actually get a decent alienware (if thats what you really want) for about 2 grand or half the cost.

Does the UK price include shipping and handling and insurance? Is Alienware based only in the US? Maybe that's the reason for the difference? 😕

$3000 USD you mean... yeah, it doesn't even come up that much... $2500 USD or so more like it... and take into account the differences in hardware, it's pretty much the same.

No, i meant pounds. IN his post he says that the UK system costs 3000 pounds and comes out to $3900. Look a couple above my posts. the UK system comes up as 1,777.46 pounds for me.

Never mind the computer, why are you going by "Gary Shandling?"

Im his son, not.

As for the comp. Doesnt anyone understand? I configured an alienware system that i want to get using both the www.alienware.co.uk site and the www.alienware.com site. Both systems were completelly identical in spec. But the american system was $1000 cheaper.

Uk system = £3000
Usa system = $3000

BUT convert the british pound into the us dollar and youll see if you live in the uk you have to pay $1000 more for the exact same system then in the usa including shipping and taxes e.t.c get it or not?

Nope, can you explain again?

I see what is going on. He is going through the form and adding specs to each to get a total price. the 1777.46 pounds is BEFORE he adds whatever he wants to it.

RIGHT?

If that isn't the case, i don't have a clue how you got those numbers.

Don't you guys across the pond get screwed with VAT tax? Whereas if we in the US bought something from the UK and have it shipped over, we don't have to pay the VAT tax?

I wanted to get an alienware system ok?
I went to www.alienware.co.uk as i live in england.
I then configured the system i wanted.
The total price came to £2900.
I though this is a bit expensive, so i went to www.alienware.com to compare English and american prices.
I then configured the EXACT same system as i did on the UK site.
The total came to $3400.

I then used a currency calculator to figure out that £2900 is actually $4800.
So the english set up costs $1400 more then the american set up, even though there exactly the same computers.
Understand now?

I still dont get what could cost so much on a system?

I pieced one together at alienware for about 2 grand.

xp 2600
nforce2 mobo
xp pro
512 megs of pc2700
radeon 9800
cd burner
speakers
19 flat tube monitor

How the hell is yours twice the cost?

I dont care about your "problem" . Just curious as to what your actually buying.

im not buying anything...just want to know why everything here costs 50% more then the rest of the planet, minus VAT. there is no other reason.

dont you think its a bit of a joke that out of the 2 identical rigs 1 is $1000 more? its like paying for fresh air. For the $1000 uk customers throw away on nothing in america you could build a near top of the line system LOL...what a laugh.
