Hey lookin pretty good ... Here's hopin that Mandrake 9.0 supports my stinkin HPT 372 IDE controller (I don't use RAID on it, just have my HD's connected to it normal, but Mandrake 8.2 bails when I goto install it so I'm using RH 7.3 for now)...

I have a question for those of you running Mandrake/KDE. Is there a way to have certain programs run in some type of "system tray" like windows? I'd switch over, but I HATE the fact that my messaging program (gaim) and mp3 program (xmms) require their own task bar slot, which is just a waste of space in my opinion.

p.s. I don't do the multiple desktop thing either...

Can you please tell me how to change refresh rate and resolution in Mandrake 9.0? For refresh I tried changing the 50-180 in xf86config-4 to 85 but that didn't do a damn thing! Resolution just doesn't change after it says I need to restart X. If I could get around these problems I would be using Mandrake now.

I know what you're looking for. You want an iconbox (see my screenie in gnome). I know for a fact that you can make them in gnome (my screenie is proof), and I THINK you can have them in KDE too.

Nah, thats not quite it. They still have text next to the icons. I'd just want a tiny icon representing the program (like winamp in system tray only mode... but with XMMS). I don't think they're doing it in KDE yet, and the closest thing I've seen is this, which appears to be something coming in future versions. I'm also battling with getting XMMS to play .PLS links off of shoutcast.com... I'm a newb all over again.
