Take a look at FIRST NEW Pentium 4-M Toshiba Satellite laptop!!! :)

wow, now it just needs a type-r sticker to go with the 5 others 😉

Really, it's a slick looking notebook, kinda looks like an iMac...

if its the same as the 5005 keyboard, well the 5005 had a translucsent keyboard. i dont know if thats a p4-m thouhg, the very similar looking satelite 1900 used a desktop one.

This is mobile pentium 4, not desktop one. You can see pentium 4-M sticker if you take a look at 2nd picture.. 🙂
Also Toshiba Satellite 1900 laptop used P4 1.6ghz desktop one.

Very sweet lookin lappy man. I'm not sure I dig the touch pad though, little to toy'ish for me 😉. How much do those things cost?

Where you guys getting this? I did manage to find info on the 1900 series (ATI Radeon), but nothing on a 5100 series.

price ?

around $2500 bucks. i heard its going to be offically announced monday. i wish i could afford the extra 500 bucks plus the $300 opened box fee compusa charges for returns, as i purchased the 5005-s507 a few days ago but i love this thing. the sound sytem is great it actually has a sub on it 🙂

2500?

thats 1k more than what i wanted to spend on a notebook. How come toshiba is the only one with a geforce 4 to go right now and I think dell just recenlty offered the radeon 7500 and is also the only one with it???

because laptop gaming is a very niche market. and really, all those graphics acclerators do that older ones don't is play games really well.

ya these gaming 3d chips just cost more than the cheap cards. thats why basically only dell and toshiba even offer laptops with these chips, and toshiba only in a few models. 95% of laptop users could care less if they have a radeon 7500 or a rage mobility as they dont game much. i dont game much either, but i am kinda regretting my rage mobility sine war3 runs so slow (the once in a long time game i feel like trying)

the 5105 will suck btw. for 2 reasons. assuming its the same keyboard and mouse as the 5005, well that keyboard blows goats, and the touchpad's buttons are horrible too, if you've ever tried it in a store

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Toshiba is one of the few manufacturers who don't have a "real" BIOS anymore on their notebooks. Things which you can control from Windows is as much as you can customize the laptop. Also, Toshiba Satellites dont' have Serial or Parallel port anymore, just USB and Firewire. Pretty big bummer if you'll want to use older devices or install Linux...

Woah, did anyone take a careful look at that spec sheet sticker?

harmon/kardon stereo speakers with built-in subwoofer let you feel the sound

Uh...is it just me or does it seem farfetched to port a 'real' subwoofer into a laptop? 🙂. That and the EMI would scramble the whole motherboard.

Toshiba has put subwoofers into some systems for some time now (since the first 2800/5 series). The speaker is about 1.25" in diameter. Can you hear deeper tones, yes. Does it shake the table, no. Personally, I think the best sound came out of the Toshiba 2600/2700 series, then the 4030-4100 series, and then these laptops with the subs.

Some guy who posted on usenet bought one at compusa this week, thats who the pictures were grabed from

I've been predicting this since I saw their first 5000 series lappy.
IT blew me away, and I knew all I had to do was wait for this!
When their website changed the wording to "5000 series" I knew I was right.
Then the GeForce4 Go version appeared and I knew the P4 was just around the corner (March 4th?).
Time to show my bro the pics 😀

ok after seeing that guys 3dmark im seriously thinking about getting this puppy 🙂

Isnt GeForce4 Go, based on the NV17a chip? Also there are several using GeForce4 Go, must just werent announced till today(the offical day of the P4-M launch).

As for notebook makers not using 3D chips, thats just not true. Every notebook maker had GeForce2 Go notebooks, or Radeon notebooks for the past year or so. Now they have replaced the GeForce2 Go with GeForce4 Go
