I'm building a new computer for a friend. He's looking for a bar below the best that is still quiet. Here's the specs:

Monitor: Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 19" CRT 920
Motherboard: Chaintech 7VJL Apogee
Sound and Network Card: Onboard
CPU: Athlon XP 2000+ (Palomino Core)
Vid Card: Gainward GF4 Powerpack Ultra/650TV 64MB Golden Sample (Ti4200)
Hard Drive: Western Digital 800JB 80GB Special Edition Hard Drive
RAM: 1 DIMM 512MB Corsair XMS PC2700 C2 w/ Heat Spreader
Power Supply: Enermax Whisper EG365P-VE(FMA)
HSF: Swiftech MCXC370 w/ stock Papst fan (of course I have Arctic Silver 3)
CD-RW: Lite-On 40x/12x/48x (white box w/ Nero)
Speakers: Logitech Z-540
Case: Lian-Li PC60USB

Please let me know ALL opinions. If you like it, then leave a post and let me know. I don't want to hear only what's wrong with it because if one person comes in and says that, for example, they had problems with that Mitsubishi DiamondTron monitor and all the people that had no problems don't say anything, I'm going to be quite worried.

Again, he wants a computer that will last awhile (in computer terms, of course, not car terms) and is fairly quiet. I specifically liked the HSF because the reviews I have found say that it is very quiet for the performance it gives. The case and the power supply were chosen because of their abilities to turn their fans down when he's just browsing the web at home.

Okay, not that exact model. It was a 900Pro. My other one is okay though. I like my Samsung monitors better though.

You might consider an Antec Truepower PSU. It should be a little quieter than the Enermax. Personally, the case is too expensive for what you get, but hey.

Thanks for the post. I have heard that the Enermax is quieter, but I don't really know. It also has a knob on the back that adjusts the speed of the fan, which I thought would be really nice. That way, if it is a little louder, he can just turn it down. It also has a temp monitor that plugs into the mobo that will automatically turn down the fan when the case is cool (isn't that always in a Lian-Li?).

Speaking of the Lian-Li, it's only $125 shipped, which I thought was quite acceptable for the Caddilac of cases ;)

Has anybody else used that monitor? Vid card? Mobo? I'm especially curious about the mobo.
