I just got mine yesterday. TYG01, burned a few already at 4x and they seem fine. Thanks OP for a good deal.

Ya, people in other forums are reporting TYGO3's (16X) and TYG02's recently. There still seems to be a lot of TYG01's floating around but quality recordings should be burned at slower speeds anyway imho.. A win win situation no matter what media you receive, if you ask me.

same here, pretty sure its a YMMV thing.

I've gotten some fake TY's CDRs from newegg before, glad that these are real. Will consider buying, although I'm more in need of CDs than DVDs.

Receieved 100 today (ordered 11/30/05). Unfortunately it looks like I got the TYG01 discs rated at 4x. My NEC 3520a seems to be able to burn them at 8x though. Anyone else with this experience?

Also, I just got back from Best Buy, and all of their Fuji DVD+R 50 packs @ $14.99 were Made in Taiwan (i.e. NOT Taiyo Yudens). YMMV but I was hoping to find some more Fuji-branded TY's there since I have a $75 gift card.

If you have 4x burner then you will be limited to 4x but for most 8x burners like nec 2100a/2500a/2510a tyg01,02,03 it's 8x even if 02,03 are supposedly 12x and 16x respectively.
TYG02,TYG03 should do 12x/16x on most modern burners.
TYG01 may or not not able to burn at 12x maybe just 8x, that's stock speed.
These are expensive, I wouldn't buy any when I can get that same amount for half the price.
Burn time for 8x vs 12x, is only 3min.slower.
8x vs 16x, 4min.slower.
Not a whole lot of difference? 8x is favorite among users due best speed vs quality. Most media have no problems burning at this speed even if the quality is just average.

Care to share more about this better price?

I sense either an exaggeration, or he's comparing them to a different brand name media. That or he scored at some killer sale at Bestbuy.

Hey if you guys like this deal, keep an eye on this place. The last time I ordered media was last January from them. I got 100 8x dvd+r TYs and 100 52x cd-r TYs for $45 shipped! (I think I used a free ship coupon.) I remember the dvds were $30, so that's just like this deal except they were 8x discs and came in cake boxes of 50 (not that cake boxes are of much value). I'm surprised nobody has mentioned them.
Oh, and I'll keep you posted if I see any SPECIFIC hot deal from them or anywhere else. 🙂

PS: For the guy who was looking for inkjet printable or something other than shiny, they have good deals on those TYs too.

i bet you he's talking about those 100pk generic media he loves so much

Uh to all the people checking media codes on the TY's, that is not a gaurantee of it being real TY media. In my opinion, i would only purchase media from supermediastore

Also to the people burning faster than the rated speed i wouldnt do that if i were you. I used to do this and i found that there was a higher risk of error burns, but when burnt at the rated speed its nearly 100% burn every time.

Agree about burning faster than the rated speed. I burned some TYG02's at 16x and they would not play properly in some dvd units.

Confirmed that the last batch from Shop4Tech were TYG03's, burned perfectly at 16x and play great in a variety of dvd players.

ya, ordered last Thursday and received TYG03 today. my Nero 6.6 and NEC 3520 3.04 see it as 16X. Haven't burned enough of them so don't know about 16X burn quality.

It seems that they have different maximum speed ratings.
TY01 seems to be 4x, TY02 is 8x and TY03 is 16x. Check it out. Might be wrong.
But not everybody prefers the faster ones due to legacy support issue in some
old dvd players.
