Taisol CGK742092 questions

How does this cooler stack up against other coolers, and is it much better than the provided fan in an AMD T-Bird 1.1ghz (CEK733092). Also, does the Taisol CGK742092 fit into an Abit KT7A-RAID?

Yes, its a few degrees better than the CEK.
Yes, it will fit in a KT7A-RAID with out any problems.

I don't know how good the fan that you have is, but I know I noticed I got a HUGE improvement going from my duron coolermaster to this one. Right now it is running @1050mhz. However, it is running on the hotter side at the moment, at 48 (because it is crunching RC5 24/7). There is not much thermal paste on it, and I am planning to get some Arctic Silver from a friend that I hope will improve it. My reasoning behind this, is that heatsink is BARELY warm... meaning that the heat isn't getting to the HS.

The only thing is, depending on your case, you may have to remove the PS to install the HS/F. If you dont', you won't have enough leverage or the right angle to install it.

Well, I have a rather large case (Antec SX830 workstation case), so I can do everything with every component in, no problem. :-D

Most reviews of the Taisol 742 have put it on par with anything in its price range when it is equiped with a fan equal to the task. The stock fan is OK if you are not going to overclock. If you are, I would recommend upgrading to a YS tech26cfm, adda 28cfm, delta 30cfm or something similar.

It fits with no problem on a KT7a raid. I have a 742 with a delta 30cfm fan cooling my thunderbird on a KT7a raid. It's a 1.2ghz running at 140x10. If I run benchmarks,rc5 or prime95, my cpu reads 43 to 45c. At idle, around 28c.

I have an adda that I'm going to try soon. But I have to say that I'm pretty happy with the delta. The noise level isn't bad at all.
