I'd be careful with that... I myslef do not have one, but if it wobbles, I'd contemplate on getting a new fan or sending that one back for a better one.

I have one, and it does not wobble. A wobbly heatsink is definitely something to be worried about. Make sure that the cpu is mounted securely in the socket and that the retention clip on the heatsink is nice and snug. Also, check to make sure that you have the heatsink oriented correctly as it is possible to mount it in the wrong direction.

yeah its goin in the right way

i mean its locked on and everything

maybe the clip was bent when it was shipped..so its not as tight as before

i mean its doesnt wobble on its own

its stays in place when i kinda grab it with my hands i can move it a bit from side to side

<< I thought if you took the rubber pads off the heatsink would touch the traces and fry the cpu? >>

Might, if not for the core holding it off enough. Still, there are some people who insist on taking them off. They remind me of the guys who used to automatically take the air cleaner off their cars and run them back in the 70's. Those were there for a reason too. 😉

no way ! i left them on

i mean i'm gettin pretty good temps low 40s for my 1ghz ideling in like 75-80 degree room

I have that TaiSol HSF, and well its probably got the best locking/clamping whatever I should call! 😛 mechanism of any HSF ive tried, and mine never "wobbled" on the Tbird. hope someone can help ya get sorted though.

If you are physically grabbing it and forcing it from side to side then of course it will move slightly. That being the case there's nothing to worry about. If you are just flicking it and it moved though then that is not right.

Spen an extra 10 bucks and buy a copper spacer....if the sink still wobbles then you really got some problems.

maybe i'm just forceing it too much

the last cooler i had teh agilent arctic cooler didnt bdge at all

so i was just messing with my new taisol

and it doenst just wooble if i breathe on it 🙂
