So I saw the videos for Valk Chronicles and Wasteland 2 and I need to play a Tactical game again. The last one I played was XCOM Enemy Unknown. This game was so addictive for me that "1 more hour" at midnight, ended up being me playing til the sun came up, with 0 knowledge that time had actually passed.

Valk seems to be at a good price and Wasteland 2 was a little too expensive to me.

Any suggestions on other games I should consider?

Must be available on Steam.

Did you get Enemy Within?

I did not. Is it worth playing the game again all the way through for Enemy Within?

I'm usually not the type to play something twice lol (I play so few games that it's easy to always find something new) so if it is I'd play it. I just felt like it'd be too similar of an experience again.

Divinity Original Sin looks really fun although a little more DEEP than XCOM is.

Have you played Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition or Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition? Or both too old.

The King's Bounty series is fantastic, but leans very heavily to the tactical side of things, but maybe your fine with that.

I'll check it out although part of what I was looking for was Controller support as well. That's what made me play XCOM Enemy Unknown for so long. Laying down and playing with a controller meant I just didn't evne notice time fly by.

don't know if it's on steam but there are:
Fallout: Tactics (must play! wasteland's spiritual successor or something like that)
Divinity: Original Sin (best game of 2014?)
Xenonauts
Agarest: Generations of War (warning: 200+ hour game if you must do all quests! :D )
Line of Defense Tactics (haven't played this one yet)

Why not just buy Valkyria Chronicles ?

I bought it on Saturday morning , played it for 10 hours this weekend. It's quite good

Dude XCom is all about replaying the game and getting better at it

You played Enemy Unknown ONE TIME and think you have experienced all of what it has to offer? LOL!

Enemy Within is definitely worth it. It adds a lot to the game, but I'd say it's worth it just for all the new maps you can fight on.

I just picked up Kings Bounty Crossworlds (don't buy Armored Princess, Crossworlds has AP also), and sunk 80 hours into it the last two weeks. It's more of a Heroes of Might and Magic strategy game though.

Final Fantasy Tactics, Advance Wars, or Tactics Ogre are all good options for the GBA if you want something to play on the go.

Expeditions Conquistador and Eador Masters of the Broken World are both worth a look. They're indie games and it shows in terms of bugs or being a bit rough around the edges in places, but some fresh ideas in both.

Final Fantasy Tactics, Valk Chronicles are both awesome.

If you disregard the RPG element of things, Frozen Synapse is definitely a solid strategy game.

Shadowrun Returns was fun though not as deep tactically as Jagged Alliance 2, Fallout Tactics, X-Com.

Enemy Within was worth buying and replaying the game. New maps, powers, powered armor mechs.

There's also the "Long War" mod for X-Com EU/EW that adds piles and piles of complexity as well as brutal difficulty. I haven't tried it yet.

Most of these have been mentioned but some are new (marked with *):
king bounty
blackgaurds *
enemy within
valkyria chronilces (more of a story book very linear but very good)*
wiz 8 (one could argue on the tactical aspect)*
toee (pretty old)*
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (one of your better jrpg)*
shadow run director cut
-
A few others but that should keep you busy for 8 months.
