For lunch today I had adobada tacos at a roach coach. They were vastly superior to anything to be had at Taco Bell or Taco Johns. That said, Taco Bell > Taco Johns. Which is like saying Old Milwaukee is better than Black Label.

Never had Taco John, but I know the don't have Lava Sauce. TB's would be whatever to me, but I pay .30 to add lava sauce to whatever I'm ordering and it becomes good. Double Beef Cheesy Burrito add Lava Sauce = WIN.

we have all three here, taco johns, taco time and taco bell, plus a few taco trucks and real mexi places. the place in the back of the conoco gas station owns all for barbacoa, the trucks are ok and taco time wins between the 3 chains, but it is the most expensive too.

I prefer Taco Johns but will settle for Taco Bell. Luckily I dont have to. Chipotle is a hundred times better and right around the corner from my house.

That is a very extensive poll, but it didn't cover my answer: What is Taco Johns? And What is Taco Bell?

They are beloved Tex-Mex fast food restaurants. Taco Bell is by far the largest chain, available just about everywhere in the U.S.

Taco Bell is also a cultural icon. For example, in a Beavis and Butthead cartoon, a high school Spanish teacher berated them saying, "You've been in Spanish class for a whole year and the only Spanish you've learned is what you picked up at Taco Bell."

Cheers dude, I've found out what they are since I posted that. :) It looks quit nice, but McDonalds looks like fine cuisine on the website...

OP, where'd you move to?

I prefer Taco John's beef over Taco Bell's, but Taco Bell has (had?) the volcano burrito's and the usually tasty steak supreme chalupa. I would definitely take Taco Bueno over both of them because of the sheer size of the food that they give. They have the best fast food nacho's I've ever had.

The taquerias are awesome, but I live too far away from our little Mexico to make it at all feasible for a lunch run.

I find it funny how one jack-ass behind a counter ultimately links Taco John's to putting pubic hair in food... as if somehow they train their employees to do that.

At any rate, for cheap tex-mex food, I'd say Taco John's has a more flavorful food than Taco Bell. Obviously real Mexican is much, much better, but if fast food style tex-mex is what you're looking for, I'd go for Taco John's. Only time I hit Taco Bell is is when I want a double-decker and an order of breadsticks (the Pizza Hut Express/Taco Bell combo places).

Then again, haven't had either in a long, long time.

I've never heard of Taco John. I usually have no reason to go to Taco Bell as I'm fortunate enough to be in an area with Taco Bueno, whose food is much much much better. I'll have to give Taco John a go if I'm in an area to try it. Taco Bell has improved over the past five years or so though. It used to be poop wrapped in tortillas, now it's actually decent most of the time.

The Bell has better menu choices. Of course almost every choice is processed protein drenched in salt and wrapped in a tortilla or taco shell...but at least you have some variety in what you get.

From what my drunken college days recall from Taco John's about all you had for choices were potato ole's or a burrito. Or both. And then just how many you wanted of each.

I like John's a lot better. Only one location in the whole state of florida though. And it's like 90 minutes away.

both have good points.

I got burnt out on TJ last year though because we were building a project a couple blocks away, and I had bought $100 in gift cards online for $50....ate a LOT of TJ's in 2009.

IHMO Johns > Bell.

Super Potato Ole's are good.

In general Johns uses some vegtables other than tomato + lettuce. You actually get some black olives in the burrito, and things like that, which help out alot.

A moderator removed the tongue-in-cheek option about how Taco Bell is better because at Taco Johns you can get pubic hair tacos, in case anyone's wondering what that voting option was.

Taco Johns is much better.

It's so much better it's ridiculous. I mean seriously, it's not even close. Taco Bravo plus largo Potato Oles for the freakin' win!

If there was one anywhere in Portland, I would drive all the way across town to go there before going to that other place. Fortunately Lewis-McChord has Taco Johns on base, so every time I go up I make sure to eat there.
