I always enjoy when I get internal emails with the following useless text

COMPANY NAME
(FORMER COMPANY NAME)
ADDRESS MAIN PLANT
ADDRESS HEADQUARTERS
SEVERAL PHONE NUMBERS
RANDOM DISCLOSURE BS

Outlook automatically adds that to your email. It's nice because it includes all your contact information in every email you send

I still haven't done that, so every email I send at work looks like an AOL message.

(email does not include any of my contact information or say what my job is or what level it is or which team I work with)

I've gotten an email with the person's twitter and facebook account info in it. I never asked her if it was legit though, like a place to discuss code development, or if it was just to be social with co-workers. She was the only one that had it in her dept. though, so I'm thinking the latter.

I've seen a lot of dumb famous quotes in them too, that is fairly common.

A lot of sigs where I work:

Text is centered
it is in cursive
it is italicized
it is in pink
contains extremely stupid token titles like, "sub-team leader" lol -- that's like braggin about a certificate of participation.

I have probably printed maybe a dozen emails to paper in my life. Not just that, but I definitely don't need to print your shitty email that's about nothing anyways.

Some places tack the disclosure on automatically whenever an email is sent out of office.

Some of them are required by law. Yeah it may not hold up in court, but the government can fine you for not having it in your emails.

I hate companies that automatically put their company logo at the bottom.
I have a friend, at a university, whose emails always contain a 640x200 pixel banner at the bottom.
He said the exchange server adds it automatically and he can't control it.
It is sooo annoying.

We had a guy who retired a few years back that had a PhD. in Chemistry, and all of his emails were signed Firstname Lastname, Ph.D. Considering he was basically Level 2 tech support it looked ridiculous. What a waste. He also had the standard pithy quote in his sig as well. Pretentious, much?

I can't say i've actually seen someone throw their degree/level in their signatures .. and I worked at the University for a while.

Really? Of the people I've worked with at universities and research hospitals, most medical doctors, fellows and phds will have something of the sort in their signature. Lots of the business admin and coordinating people with have MA or whatever in their sigs as well.

Anyway, it's common enough that it certainly doesn't bother me.

I put "Sent from my phone" when I send an email from my Android - it's just a way of saying "sorry about the lack of formatting".

My work sig looks like this - I don't have any discretion over it.
