TAC Note: 64bit on WCG!

Worldcommunitygrid.org starts to introduce 64bit applications for their active projects.

The first one that has got the x64 treatment is Compute For Clean Water!

Looks like the 64-bit Clean Water app was released for linux and windows a few days back (version 6.41). If you are running boinc version 6.10 or later, the update should be automatic.

Any need to update our client?

If you're running a 64-bit BOINC-client, you don't need to upgrade client.
If you're running a 32-bit BOINC-client, and it's a v6.10.xx or later client, you don't need to upgrade or switch to 64-bit BOINC-client.

If you're running a 32-bit BOINC-client earlier than v6.10.xx on the other hand, you must upgrade or switch to a 64-bit BOINC-client.


Also worth remembering, you'll always need to also run a 64-bit OS.
