Tabula Rasa?

Alright so I tried the game during the closed Beta. My brother got in and he let me try it out. I liked it, but I continually hear bad things about it. I just want your opinion on the game before I buy it and pay to play the game... Is it worth it? Or should I just get COD4?

I haven't played it in awhile, but it had some interesting parts. I would like to see it developed more but with it like every other new MMO trying to be the next WoW and start charging a $15/month fee (hello world, you could set your own price point; hell even WoW charges different amounts in different parts of the world and it's the most popular) will limit the people playing and the life of the game.

It's half a game at this point. The attribute system is broke. PVP is anemic. Instances are boring and soloable for the most part. Endgame is nonexistent. Crafting is almost completely useless.

Thanks for that link! Maybe I've been living under a rock but that's some of the funniest crap I've seen in a long time! The truth hurts as they say, whoever "they" are!

I bought it and played it for about 3 weeks. It's not worth bothering with. It doesn't feel like an MMO, and really isn't. The world zones are instanced, not just the "dungeons". For most zones there are 2-5 instances to choose from, and none of them has many people. The game also lacks cities (or the equivalent) that would make it feel like an MMO. There is a single large human camp, but it's mostly populated by NPCs. And of course there is no PvP. Duelling, whether it's solo or guild, does not count as PvP.

Is this any better now?
i just quit WoW again and i'd like to try some other MMOs out...lest i go back to EQ, lol

Yet again, I'll reaffirm that you made a good choice, and I haven't even played CoD4! I was in the Tabula Rasa beta and my god... it was the most boring game I've ever played. The idea of it being a FPS but having to click on a guy about 50 times just to kill him... no thanks, I'd much rather play a real FPS. Not to mention, what's up with the lack of black? Even though you end up replacing the starting clothes quickly, I wanted black armor 🙁.

I was in the closed beta and it was pretty sweet, though I don't play MMOs so I can't compare it to anything.

When I read the beta was closing down since it was so close to release time, I was like what???

It was released too early, definitely. They should've spent another 6 months adding features that should be in there, fixing bugs, everything. Also then it wouldn't have been released around the time of so many great games.

Although even if it was better, I never really planned to buy it since I can't really afford the monthly fee and I'm not into those anyway.

It was pretty fun for about 5 hours. Then you start noticing the world has about 10 other players in it and the game generally feels pretty sparse, even with the enemy conflict going on. At least, that's how I felt. Overall, I canceled my account after a few days of solid gaming and went back to WoW as my MMO, with AoC coming up.

sign me up

Well I'm doing the Single Player, when I do multiplayer I just play with friends, so no noob pwning. It's all around good competition

thought I'd bump this instead of making a new thread (new concept around here eh?)

anyone play these days? If so, how does the game feel now versus earlier in the year, and compared to launch? I played some during the beta, but put it down. It had a lot of potential, and I loved the sci-fi setting... just not sure if it's improved with any of the updates or not.

I found a 3 day trial key last week so I played it then. #1 The world is empty. There's barely anyone playing anymore it seems. Kinda like after the mass exodus from Star Wars Galaxies.

As for the gameplay I thought it was hella repetitive and boring. You really don't even have to aim like with a regular FPS, it auto targets and shoots baddies. Special powers and such were also pretty lame too. I forgot what level I got to but I didn't find any part of it "worth it". My curiosity is now fulfilled and disappointed.
