Tablet with Windows8/10 that will connect to server 2012

I need to buy some tablets for our shop to run the client software for a new management program we are rolling out soon. The server is running server2012 and won't let certain old versions like CE connect due to security settings. Do I need tablets running full windows 8 or 10 to connect to 2012 without jumping through hoops? Any recommendations for 10in tablets?

Anything new enough to have metro/win 10 interface and Store (which also has Microsoft's RDP client app) should work. I'd get the Surface 3 ($499).
