Tablet recommendation?

Looking to add a tablet that I can use at home with my desktop and at school with my netbook.

Just looking for something that I can sketch with and will recognize both Chinese and English characters. My friend is pushing WACOM's on me, but I think they are overkill for what I will be using it for. Ports can be USB or firewire and would prefer something with linux drivers/software as well.

it's selling for $900 now but it should be $800 by April. if you contact HP and buy it through the "Academic Program", you can save another $100.

I just started using the WACOM Bamboo on my notebook and it is pretty decent. I am enjoying playing Baldur's Gate II with it, I actually like it much better than using a mouse (but only on my laptop). It can be found for pretty cheap now -- $52 on Amazon
