Tablet PC's

Hi all, gotta few question on tablet pc's.

Our company are thinkin of buying one for show our showreel (thats on dvd) to potential clients, showing off our digital imagery (thats our main business). We are lookin at the Compaq T1000, but concerned about the spec, as our codec we use is quite cpu\ram intensive.

1. DVD-ROM is not built in.... so how well would it play our mpegs streamed from the HD?
2. Graphics Card - not that powerfull from first impressions.. is it shared memory aswell?
3. Processor - Transmeta Crusoe? it says 1ghz? is it upto some serious dvd-decoding?
4. Does anyone have one, or access to one? Have they run any benchmarking tests on them?

Any ideas\suggestions\comments welcome.. its more of a research op this, seeing what people think of them etc.

Many Thanks,

Yatesee

A good site for those questions is tabletpcbuzz.com. They have a comparison chart of the features of the various TPCs, and they have forums.

From what I understand, The TC1000 has the most powerful graphics chip in any TPC (GeForce 2 16mb). The Transmeta 1Ghz CPU is probably equal to about an 800mhz P4.

Keep in mind that the TPC is not built for speed, so if you need top of the line performance you'll be disappointed. It is optimized for the "digital ink" thing and long battery life. There's little that can be done in the way of supercharging them. There's a review of the FIC model on the main Anandtech site.
