Final Update....

TeAm AnandTech, thanks to all your help, has taken a nice lead in the race and seems to be cruising to a big win. We do, however, have several other goals.

One of the goals is to move into the top 10 in the world...and that's a tough one...without your help, that is. Join the TeAm and help push us into the top 10 and beyond! :)

The Second...is to pass DSLR not only for the race...but in membership as well! :) We've cut their membership lead from 469 at the start of the race down to 80! :D yes....we need more..more..more...we want more TeAmmates at the end of the race (Feb 28th) than they have....will you help?


First...welcome to all those who have joined! :D

DSLR now has two big guns....they have the power of about 700 PC's between them...and the potential for more... the only way to overcome them is to have more members that make the difference..and we can't even claim that...as they have almost 300 more members than we do...1662 vs 1949....so that's why we need your help.

Please read the posts below and help..You'll find a great group of TeAm members and a great forum in the DC forum to make friends and have fun...come on..join up and let the fun begin! :D We look forward to welcoming YOU to the TeAm! :D

Team AnandTech is good during a challenge, but the difference between TA and DSLR Team Starfire is persistence. Starfire doesn't slack off after a challenge. We maintain our increased production. TA will fall asleep again, within a few weeks of the finish and we'll cut their lead and pass them.

DSLR has their big producer back (about the power of 700 PC's or so)...and he's helping them pull away. Can the AnandTech faithful...with all the members...and all the PC's let this happen.....

Hello all.....

It's that time again....we have been challenged to a new race with DSL Team Starfire...

The last race was a great growing experience for both teams but was ended just short of completion because of the sad day of September 11th.

Since then though, team DSL Starfire has outgrown and outproduced us considerably.....now it's our turn!!! :Q:Q:Q

A new race has started and we need your support.....all it takes is a few extra cpu cycles...just a few. The clients use spare CPU cycles in the search for signals and other signs from space for intelligent life or anomolies. They are easy to use, have little (mostly NO) impact on your system (even in benchmarks) and also help science too :)

Come on over to the DC forum and see what TeAm AnandTech is all about...you'll be glad you did!!! :D

Well, it's been a bad day...as the French team is pulling away (at #10) and DSLR is moving up in membership....and we're not! :(

Come on...there's plenty of time left...and we would love to have you all for the duration...not only the race.

ok...i dl the stuff....what is supposed to run... both the seti driver & the seti client?
do you guys ahve it run always or on screen saver mode? also i read about tweaking in the properties....huh???? any info would be great

Good morning...

Most of us run the CLI version of SETI because it's much faster, but you can run the GUI in screen saver for a time because it's interesting...but over time, most people want the faster CLI because they want more...

Follow the "Team AnandTech SETI" link in my Signature for a good installation guide...also, come over to Distributed Computing forum and say hi....and any questions you have would be answered very fast over there! :)

I do not want to find aliens. Do you realize it will in all likelihood mean the extinction of mankind or worse? Just look at our own meager history. When two civilizations meet one dies either by sword or pestilence. Or we could be utilized as slaves or food, as we do other creatures. Stop the madness! :Q :confused: :p

Dude, they're out there, and probably know we're here...which means we need to grow up as a race and accept that we're not the center of all things. Hiding our heads won't help in the end. Grow or die...our choice. I choose grow.:)

Too bad it's SETI@Home, I much prefer Folding@home, helping fight cancer is higher on my priority list than hunting down little green men. Let me know if you ever have a folding@home race, I'll join then.

Afternoon welcome and invitiation to all members of the AnandTech forums to jump in on the race...it's almost half over....still 31 days left! :D

With DSLR making a move...it's your turn to bounce them out! :Q

While we may not be having races in other DC projects, if SETI isn't your game...come over to DC and check out RC5, OGR, ECCp or some of the others.....we have GREAT TeAms in most if not all projects....so by all means...if you don't like SETI...look at the others :)
