TA goes down

Consider this post an emergency call to arms. TA maintains a minimal, 4Tnode lead over the number 2 spot in OGR-25, the dreaded /. For those of you not big on OGR, 4Tnodes is not much at all, I'm averaging about 6Tnodes a day.

We are obviously going to overtake /. in RC5 soon but if that is at the cost of losing the OGR-25 lead then there is no net gain.

The solution? Two things. In the short term we need some support from the RC5 cows. In the long term we need ASSIMILATION!!

Second that! RC5 is a given folks, but we also have an opportunity to have the lead in both current Dnet contests if we play it carefully. If you have K6's out there that are doing RC5, please consider moving them over to OGR as they are very efficient at it.

Ugg, as much as I wish to help you guys, OGR-25 isn't do-able on my PMMX. If I can get access to one of my remote cows, I'll set it to OGR though...

Roger that, Qythyx, I just got my hands on my sister's old K6 and my dualeron has been on OGR for the duration. I'll be sneakernetting the K6 until I can get it a network card and eventually a trustworthy HDD. C'mon, everyone... if you have a K6 system in your herd, let's switch them over at least! 🙂

edit: got it started on OGR, let's not let our #1 spot slip away! :Q

edit #2: decided this means war. The dualeron is now back up to 552MHz x 2 😛

Le Blatt - Do it!! (Engineer will wet himself when he sees this;Q) But if K6's do it so well it would be greedy to keep them back.

Naturally enough, it is now required that you slip into the offices of the Surete and assimilate the lot.😀 (With their permission of course!) We have to build up that crack power further! 🙂

YES PLEASE!
every one go calculate some rulers!
DPC needs it! 🙂

mm, as a DPC member that should be 🙁
edit: this is an attempt to be funny, not a flamebait!

Don't worry, poohke, your post is understood. 🙂 Even if you don't overtake Team Anandtech in the RC5-64 project, I will respect the DPC as a strong team with a lot of team spirit, and we will probably race eachother in many future projects.

Like the smell of burnin' rubber do ya? 😛
hehe, no.. you're fast, I 've got no illusions 'bout that and the race would be very close indeed.
but, hasn't any1 of you calculated what kind of scores you would make if all those cpu cycles weren't wasted (RC5 fanatic here 🙂) on other projects? Can't be that hard to do, can it?

Hehe yeah use your RC5 cows for OGR-25... for you don;t have any chance in the RC5 project 😛

Peace to TA, honour to DPC

I actually did a rough estimation and came up with something like 2.5-2.8M blocks/day. Unfortunately the estimation is very rough, as some cpus that do very well in projects like OGR(K6/II/III) and S@H(Alpha,Mips,HP PA,etc.) don't do very well in RC5. Its hard to make good estimates.

Ill switch the K6-2 I have at home to OGR within the next day or so ( cant do it now, Im at work).

amok, would that be in addition to our current rate, or a total? Im thinking current, in witch case I think Dnet would kill us if we dumped that many blocks every single day. Even with mf6 we would be beating the dpc's in the dailies 😛

good call, Qythyx! I've been on OGR for the duration, but I'll see if I can assimilate 1 or 2 more boxes at work...

Well, we managed to hold on to the lead for another day.😀 Good job folks!!!

For the 7th we did 176.269 Tnodes to /'s 172.269 Tnodes. That increased our lead out to 8.107 Tnodes. That's a step in the right direction, but its still too close to call.

To all of you that have moved over some K6 machines, I thank you for your assistance. For those of you that have not put any machines on OGR, I would ask you to please consider, even if it's just on a temp basis. We could really use the help as we try to hold the #1 spot in OGR.

Great job everybody!!!

-Mike

Yes, Thanx to all the members who have sent their K6s over.

ViRGE, better keep that PMMX on RC5.

I have now taken all remaining cows off Gamma Flux, and switched them over to OGR. TA Gamma has #1 sewed up there now, and a good Gamma machine is also good at OGR!

Let's be efficient, even if you personally end up doing multiple projects, or heck trade the output of a machine efficient in one project with another TA member.

Well lets see...
A seti WU with nothing cool in it takes 1.5 TeraFLOPS, and one with a pulse takes 3.5 TeraFLOPS so....
With 246,435 wu's say 1/3 of then have Pulses, or Gaussians.
Then team Seti would have Contributed aprox. 528,603.08 TearaFLOPS
