do you use the laptop the way it came, in terms of operating system and the ibm tools?

or did you do a clean install and only installed selected applications, if so which are applications you choose to install over the fresh windows install

also where can i get the cd for windows xp pro? key is on the botom

thanks

If you want to do a fresh install, you need to find an XP disk, because you cannot do a clean install with the recovery CDs IBM will send you if you ask. They merely reinstall the same image and hidden recovery partrition that your system came with.

And to answer your question, I never keep the stock load of software. IBM makes great laptops, but their software setups are bloated and lame.

BTW, a tip for a clean install:

Burn a CD with all the latest drivers from IBM's site (chipset, NIC, Wireless, Video, Sound, etc...) and any IBM apps you want to run like Powermizer, Thinkpad Manager and the hotkey app. XP has drivers for nothing here. It's like 9x all over again.
