I do have a T-Mobile phone, looking to switch to a T-Mobile Wing. Seen reviews and they have been good. But I want to see if it's worth it. So if you have one comment on it, and if there is a better choice.

*Note* I can only use myFaves T-Mobile Phones.

Just so you know you can set your myfavs contacts online and you won't have to use a myfavs phone.

To answer your question though, I think its an alright phone. I'm not a big fan of the touchscreen though. And it also uses the bulky Windows based OS, which just seems to be a little slow on the phone. The biggest complaint on them is probably the lag time when screen from horizontal to vertical screen mode. Aside from that though, its a pretty good little phone.

I have it for my job...and I want a different phone. It is ok...but just clunky. A lot of my colleagues have switched over to iPhones...and while the WING has more options because of Windows Mobile...the iPhone just works so much better as a phone. But I guess everyone's needs are different. One of my colleagues who also has a WING loves it because he's always putting new programs on it and maxing it out. I just can't get over how poorly it performs speed wise. I also hate that I basically have to use 2 hands to look up a contact with any speed. It just isn't a good phone. As a PDA...sure it is pretty decent. Oh yeah...and if you're a traveler like myself...the default system alarm sucks. An alarm gets queued behind other notifications...so if you got some other notification in the middle of the night (like a found Wifi connection), the alarm doesn't bother to go off...fantastic.

Thank you very much! I've seen how it's slow when switching from vertical to horizontal. That wouldn't bother me too much.

I used to have one and I had to sell it. It was just too big. Also the OS was really laggy with everything I did. Overall it became more of a burden then a convenience.

The stock Wing "ROM" (OS image) is slow, bloated and practically useless. The Wing becomes a much faster, responsive and usable phone if you flash it with a modded rom from xda-developers.com

I love the hell out of mine now. I wouldn't trade it for a iPhone till the iPhone has a hardware keyboard and MMS.

I've had my Wing for about 8 months now. (Went from a Treo 650 --> 680 --> Wing) As others have said - the OS runs slow on this, due to a slow processor. (Screen lag is evident switching from horiz-->vert or vice versa, getting programs to load, even accessing the start menu) The lag doesn't bother me that much though - I'm used to it by now, and I don't even notice it anymore. Some people might be bothered by it though.

One other thing to note - not sure if it was fixed in future revisions of the phone, but the buttons on the front of the phone tend to peel/flake off. (The Windows, OK, menu keys on the front of the phone all have faded paint) My friend's Wing also is doing the same thing, and appears to be common with many people. (Granted, I don't holster mine and just carry it in my pocket)

Another thing that irks me - it seems a little buggy. Lately, on weekdays my alarm has been going off at 6:15, and I don't have one set for that time. ???? Also - the sound has now defaulted to some weird "beep" when pressing the end button among other various things that makes sounds. I fixed it by doing a hard reset on the phone and deleting all the data, but it came back about 2 weeks later.

Lastly - the sliding keyboard - while cool, and it's nice having large buttons/keys - it lately has just become burdensome...having to slide it open everytime to reply to a message, type anything, slide back. If you're firing off rapid fire texts, replies, etc, it's just annoying. (If you have it on vibrate and just leave it in the slid out mode, it's pretty noisy)

All in all a good phone - I've loved it, but I'm going back to a Treo. (Probably a 750 though, I dig the Windows Mobile OS now) Just make sure the things I said above are fine with you.

Raging, it's slower then it should be due to the bloated t-mobile rom. A hacked/cooked from from xda-devs is much faster. I'd say close to twice as fast. If yours overclocks good, it gets even faster. Mine is rock solid stable at 312mhz, but I run 299 for battery life.

Oh and I forgot about the paint in the front panel keys. The paint on my "OK" key is flaking off.

Keep me in mind if you decide to sell it really cheap. I could always use another toy. :D

Oh I've read about the cooked ROM. The slowness honestly doesn't bother me...I'm fine with it, just have read people that hate the slowness.

And I don't think my idea of what I want to sell it at matches your idea...but if you want to shoot me an offer PM me. :)
