T-mobile vs. Cingular

I had tmobile but am thinking of switching to cingular. they are pretty much the same in my opinion although tmobile offers better phone (for its price) and cingular has better reception.

I switched from t-Mobile to Cingular last year. The service is 3x better. BUT t-mobile customer support was VERY VERY good.

really? I, instead, experience the exact opposite. T-mobile has a slight advantage in terms of network coverage. I get more bars in more places in LA (but, there's no "black spots" for Cingular). However, Cingular cust serv was surprisingly good. (not that T-mobile was bad at all, I just never have to calll them)

I was an AT&T customer for over 6 years, now I'm a Cingular Blue customer. It seems that Cingular customer service likes to give the run around. However, call quallity is as good as it was with AT&T.

Depends on where you live. If you go into a T-Mobile store or call their customer service, they have a feature that they can show you exactly what coverage you will have in given areas. It's called a PCC (Personal Coverage Check).

Check out the JD Power Awards for more info on various features of the carriers.

I don't know much about Cingular other than I hated it when I had it and that I got ripped off by their customer service.

I was looking at getting tmoble recently. I do not have a cell phone. Looks like you have to pay $7 a month for tmobile to tmobile. Why? Everyone throws it in for free. I can't believe anyone can ask x vs Tmobile and people will still say Tmobile is better. They are not cheaper, that is for sure. I will go with whoever gives the standard feature set for your plan.

I've had TMobile for almost 4 years now, and I've had no problems. Never have a problem with reception, and they've got really great customer service. I've heard(and experienced cuz I used to sell them) all kinds of horror stories about Cingular's customer service.

Don't know what you were reading, but T-Mobile introduced free mobile to mobile, so there is no $7 charge.

CIngular... I used to have T-mobile for 18 months. The reception was horrid...

T-mobile has very horrible reception outside of major cities and poulation centers. If you were in NYC, Bay Area, or Houston, (which I all visited) you will be fine. But I goto school @ Purdue, and the reception was horrible. It did not improve when I drove from rural Indiana to suburban Cleveland. Cingular has much better countryside coverage.

In short, the cheaper price of T-mobile is worth it only if you live in or near a major city.

Do you have a family plan? They throw it in for free if you have a family plan but if you get an individual plan, it costs an extra $7 a month. I find this to be ridiculous.

Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile - With Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile you can stay connected with your friends and family as much as you want, without running up expensive charges. Get unlimited calls to other T-Mobile customers anywhere on the Get More® network for just $6.99 per month.

Here are their plans

I will be really happy if you can find an error in my assesment but for now, I think I am right. Cingular is clearly the better deal.
