im on tmobile prepaid.... by far the best plan to get if you dont need a ton of mins. 10cents/min is a good deal not having to worry about nighttime and calling at certain times. You mins and mins and thats it.

Plus with tmobile they give you tzones free (doesnt even use your mins), you only get abc news, espn and cnn but its completly free which is very nice.

I don't about that. Cingular sucks.

Agreed. I use T-Mobile, pay as you go. Because I hardly use it, I work at home.
But, when I need it, it's great. I have probably bought $45.00 worth of minutes, during a 6 month period. Spent $100.00 for the phone, got $50.00 of it back, with a rebate. So, basically, I am saving money, and it's paid for itself already.

Wrong. A network is designed around peak usage. Giving more "anytime" minutes for less money increases peak usage demands on the network and therefore increases the cost of the network. This is why the attractions now focus on off-peak minutes, times when there is excess network bandwidth because the network is designed to handle peak demands. By charging more for peak minutes a cell phone provider is able to manage its network demands. Only people who really need to use those peak minutes will spend the extra money to get them and the users who don't need those peak minutes will shift their calling schedules effectively balancing the load on the network.

Overall it's an ingenius method of performing load balancing via psychological and demographic models.

EDIT: And T-Mobile's customer service is exceptional. They are continually winning awards for being the best in the industry.

I want the 150 anytime minutes plan with no weekend/nights free. Anybody know if they'll give it to me if I ask?

The $20 plan they have now is 60 anytime and 500 weekend.

I currently have T-Mobile and I love it. I've had Cingular/AT&T and Sprint. T-Mobile's Customer Support is unmatched...

I pay about $150-$170 a month for our 3 phones. 2000mins, Free N&W, Unlimited T-Mo2T-Mo, ect... Our bill is higher than most 3phone plans... We have 2 Sidekick 2s on our plan...

$99.99 Standard Plan + $10 Extra Line + $20 Unlimited TXT/Email/Web/Pic for Sidekick 2 + $20 Unlimited TXT/Email/Web/Pic for Sidekick 2 = $150

More with taxes but w/e

How many places will give you 3 lines of service, 2000mins, Unlimited TXT/Email/Web/Pic for $150? Please tell me where so I can sign up....

Also, it is VERY useful if you are like me, people who like to buy new phones every 6 months and sell old ones. I give a call to T-Mobile, request my unlock code, and as soon as I recieve that email, my phone's value increases..

Get prepaid. Before I got a plan, I used T-Mobile Pre-Paid. Not the most cost efficent if you talk alot (ie 20-30calls a day), but if you use it moderatly, it works out great

BTW, I meant to mention, TM's customer service has always been friendly and helpful to me too. I did have a little bit of a hard time when I bought a different phone on my own and had to get them to activate it. It took several tries, talking to different people, but all were friendly. It wasn't that they didn't want to, just didn't completely know how I guess.

No. It's not even T-Mobile's plan. As I said in the OP, it was Powertel's plan, several years ago. And as I said, T-Mobile always tries to get me to leave that plan.

Cheapest, yes. Crappiest, hardly. Who cares if it attracts low income individuals? Why the ****** do YOU care? :|

Been with tmobile for 4 years with 2 lines... I called them to add some more minutes to the plan because I was going over just a tad bit.... all they could do was offer me 5 free text messages per month.... 5 FREE TEXT MESSAGES?.... WHO GIVES A RATS @RSE ABOUT 5 FREE TEXT MESSAGES... tmobile could never do anything that other phone companys could do like sprint, cingular, verizon, etc...

Why I say it attracts low income individual? because out of all cellular companys I have seen... tmobile is the only one that run specials like.... "GET ONE YEAR SERVICE AND PHONE FREE!!!!!.....you just have to pass the credit check.... the line was filled with bums.....

tmobile reception sux here in texas by the way....maybe its better elsewhere...

The way I see it...

low price = not good reception = tmobile

high price = great reception = verizon

atleast here in texas....

Ummm...all phone comanies are like that. I have never seen a cell phone company not offer free phones to people. And a credit check and contract is required to get it at any company.

Like I said earlier...If Tmobile targets the low income demographic, they are unsuccesful at at it.

seriously, I was going to jump on it just for kicks to have 2 phone lines..... then i realized, this is probably the marketing tactic they are using to try to sucker in individuals that dont have cell phones... and then a year later start charging them and hoping they will stay with tmobile and pay for another year..... Plus, I had to go to class and the reason I was even at the mall at open was to look for some glass frames....nonetheless there was a long long long line of individuals that looked like they couldnt even pass a standard credit check.... but then again, I could be wrong..... they could of been university professors dressed up as bums and thugs... hahahahaha.....

That's quite the exaggeration there at the end. Did you want to change plans? They don't just throw minutes on your plan because you're going over. No company does. It's your responsibility to manage your minutes. That's why you HAVE a limit, you know. Either stop using your phones, change your rate plan over the phone, or just pay for what little overages you'd get.

Right, because no other cellular carrier checks your credit -and certainly not ALL OF THEM, right.

You're an idiot. They aren't suckers, they're called customers. Haven't you ever received some sort of "hot deal" at a store and ended up buying other things there at normal price? It's called CAPITALISM and FREE ENTERPRISE, smart guy. There's nothing wrong or shady or dispicable about it.

Oh, I get it. You can't be with a cellular company because of what their other customers might look like. Right. What was I thinking? It all makes sense now.

I sh1t you not about what you see as an exageration. All my friends that were with other carriers recieved free minute add-ons to their plans just because they have been a loyal customer. I told tmobile this when I first asked them, and all they could give me were free text messages. Thats why after 4 years of being a loyal customer, changed to att... which is now cingular.

No on said anything about all carriers not doing credit checks. But do all of them run free service and free phone specials?

Who cares if they run free phones/service specials anyway? That's what the public WANTS. Just because a cellular carrier doesn't give away free phones or service doesn't mean they're higher quality.

Oh, and about the minutes... why even have a limit on minutes? Why not have unlimited minutes? Giving away minutes is bad for business.

this is getting retarded, I have my own opinions as so do you. As for my initial post i put "no pun intended" meaning Im not trying offend anybody... but that is what I see from the way tmobile does business and how crappy of reception they have in Texas(from personal experience). Im sure you and I both have better things to do on a saturday afternoon then argue on the internet. So lets just put it at that..... beer?

No. It's not even T-Mobile's plan. As I said in the OP, it was Powertel's plan, several years ago. And as I said, T-Mobile always tries to get me to leave that plan.
They want you to leave that plan because it's costing them extra money all over the place. The administrative costs to bill for that plan (it's possible that there are less than 10 people still "grandfathered" into that plan) almost certainly surpass the revenue stream from it. And as I said in my earlier post, it doesn't incentivise load balancing on their network.

Well, obviously I pulled that number out of my arse, but I think it's entirely possible. How many people today even remember "Powertel"? And I doubt that very many people stick with the same plan for 5 or more years.

My point though is that you plan is probably in a customized area of their system that is a pain to deal with. It's effectively a "one-off" and from what I've seen, one-offs are very expensive from a business standpoint.

Are there any disadvantages to pre-paid plans? I'd be able to use it with my current phone wouldn't I?
I don't see anywhere that tells how long the service lasts?
I don't really understand their Gold Rewards thing either.
