Next caveat - existing 20 dollar unlimited users are grandfathered unless they want the 5gigs of tethering

Data Bumps
500mb to 1 gig - no additional charge
2.5gigs to 3 gigs - $10
5 gigs - NEW $20
Unlimited - $30

Unlimited Stateside Texting - i have no idea which countries.

T-Mobile is increasing the number of countries included in the unlimited text and data roaming. The list now includes 122 countries and destinations.

The new benefits will begin immediately on March 23 for customers who choose to run credit and take the postpaid option. For those who prefer not to run credit and opt for prepaid service, unlimited international texting will start on April 26.

I just read this...awesome upgrade for me...So glad I made the switch. Was with Verizon / GTE for 20 years.

Hmm, so unlimited costs more now?

It looks like this move was to accomplish at least 2 things: Attract more customers from the comp. & get Unlimited users to pay more.

I predicted the increase 2 months ago when I made the switch. If competition remains as fierce as it is today for another 6 - 9 months, I predict another data increase in that time frame (would make sense to lead the way with 2 GB @ entry level).

What I like about the T-Mo CEO is he doesn't like to follow, but his moves are strategic. He may come across as a "wild man" to some, but he's got his sh** together.

guess t-mobile had to copy verizon's stateside international texting 😀

oh well, i'm sad that they raised the prices for unlimited data. i'm on the cheapest 500MB/1GB plan, but it'll cost more if i want to upgrade to unlimited for a month

You can probably still grandfather in $20 unlimited by March 23

As long as the change is submitted by then you're right. I just bumped from 2.5 to unlimited for next billing cycle in April, but it shows it as $20.

I'm torn if I want it or just go with 3gb. It's uncommon to go over 3gb but I swap between the data plans every few months.

So it would be Simple Choice $50 + unlimited $20 = $70 plus taxes/fees if switched before March 23?

All Simple Choice plan members should be able to still see and select the $20 unlimited plan as an option on my.t-mobile.com account.

Is there a relatively simple and easy way to tether my home wireless router to a T-Mobile cell phone (Nexus 5)?

so whats the current state of tmobile coverage. if youre in the bay area, will you have data most places now?

sucks that unlimited is now $30. Glad I'm grandfathered in on the $20 plan since I rarely tether but often go above 5gb.

This is what I use and it works fine. Very portable and I take it with me almost everywhere I go. I watched Netflix on Chromecast when I went to Lancaster, PA for a weekend on T-Mobile's LTE and it felt good doing it without having to pay the hotel for crap.

I'm not sure about the particular router you have, or it's capability.

I would be OK with the $30 unlimited if that gave you top priority for traffic. currently the $20 unlimited tier is a lower priority than the fixed data tiers. although i've never noticed any slowdown.

This is a wash for me. Before, I'd need the 2.5GB plan as the wife used more than 500MB a month and I'd need the unlimited plan, as I used more than 5GB a month.

Now, though I can get away with giving the wife the included 1GB of data, I'd now need the more expensive $30 plan to get more than 5GB.

But I can imagine that, for a LOT of people, the 1GB and $10 for 3GB plan are more than sufficient.

as the guy above you said, switch now, get the unlimited for $20 grandfathered.

for this cycle, your wife will get 500MB and get stuck at 2G after that. for the next billing cycle, your wife will get 1GB.

That's a good idea.

But my interest in switching to TMobile greatly diminished once AT&T slashed the 10GB Mobile Share rate. It's only $109 for two lines sharing 10GB after discount now, and it would be $100 on TMobile for the equivalent plan for a lot less coverage and there's no discount I qualify for that I've found.

AT&T basically killed any interest I had in going to TMobile last month. I was just thinking out loud about the future.
