I was thinking that if I purchase a sidekick online and keep my current call plan, but use this free gprs plan...you should get the benefit of having a ton of minutes and browsing http sites for FREE! I think it should work. Sidekick goes for about ~$150 on ebay for the color and $~100 for the older b/w version. Of course, I don't think aim will work nor will you get a ton of sms messages that the sidekick plan comes with, but the sidekick plan is basically a ton of unlimited data transfer stuff. It's the hardware that allows it to display the pages the way it does.

This the Microsoft one? Was considering it, but when all is said and done, the sidekick has a wider screen and it'll be cheaper...plus the qwerty keyboard! I'm seriously considering this route as long as somebody can verify that it will work.

ANYBODY HERE HAVE A SIDEKICK WITH A VOICE PLAN USING THE FREE GPRS?!

Silex, it won't work. Its not just the hardware that contributes, the sidekick connects to specific servers, the pages are formatted and compressed on danger's servers BEFORE being sent to the sidekick.

On my 3595, I go to services -> T-zones -> wait for it to connect (a little "G" in the top left) -> Left button -> Scroll to "Go to address" (or something similar) -> type in address -> Press green phone button

Thats how I do it anyway, might be a better way.

silex, sidekick.. is like aol. its nothing but tmobiles own services accessable via gprs, and it allows access to the web..through the sidekick servers. it is on a whole other level from cellular phone. It requires a plan all its own to work.

Awesomeee, it works

The CS rep she said at first that is 4.99 and I told her that I only want the free one so I can access T-zones where I can download rings and stuff. No problem she added let me add that to your account and then I'll trasnfer u to our tech dep so u can have your phone set up. After all said and done, I asked the guy if I can go on any other sites, he reply back to me with examples of sites where i can go, wap.yahoo.com etc......and he was right, they work......yesssssssssssssss

I may switch to this, I have been using T-Mobile for about a year with the 20.00 a month Unlimited Internet Plan. I have been using it all day at work for mail and browsing the web. So from what everyone is saying I can just switch to this and lose 15.00 month bill with same features?

Just got the Motorola V66 a month ago or so and now I saw this thread.
I haven't played around with the phone much and been scared to enter T-Zones because it was not free so I thought that I'd get charged anytime I select it. Freaks me out when it says 'connecting'.

Anyhow, I did press it and entered the menu 'Unlimited T-zones' and then entered an adress, and it worked.
Have I now by doing this ordered an extra service to my phone or is this stuff the free browsing described in this thread?

<--- Clueless

mono, you dont even need the 4.99 plan. just get rid of the internet plan compleatly and then signup for the free wap plan. you will retain access to non secure web sites (port 80) and email will work to, but thats almost about it, only 4 ports are open, so if you tried to do things like play games or ftp, newgroups, you couldnt on the free plan.

frust, you never automaticly sign up for plans just by using their features. this isnt payperview ;)

I just found this thread, and I'm completely lost. I pay $4.99 for T-zones right now, and don't understand what I'll be losing if I go to the free one. And then, some people say the free one doesn't allow downloading, then others say to tell the rep you want the free browser for downloading. Some people say call the rep, some say it's automatically added to everyone's account. Does anyone have it straight yet?

rob, read the WHOLE post :p

Its enabled automaticly if you never signed up for a type of gprs before. If you currently have one...LIKE YOU DO.. you will need to call to change it to the free one.

the free wap gives you nothing but a) normal web access and b) access to tmobiles pay download area for useless ring tones and wallpapers.

I've got some talking to do with the T-mobile folks. On a family plan (4 lines, Samsung S105's) right now and I've got the $2.99 T-zones add-on to my line. Called up last week to change the additional line charge to $10 (from $20). Would like to take off the $2.99 fee, particularly because I rarely use the T-zones, but would like the option.

Color me calling tomorrah. ;)

I posted this earlier in the thread, but I'll post it again, since I think its worth repeating :)

Anyone who is on the 2.99 1mb/300sms plan should NOT DROP IT in favor of this. We're getting the best deal of the bunch. That plan (which is no longer available) is also unlimited (t-mobile has just stopped counting data usage, not worth it since the 2.99 would have been the only one left with a limit), and we keep our 300sms, and we get 30mms (picture) messsages, neither of which is included in other plans.

So basically what MJGunn is trying to say again is that unless you don't use sms or mms messages all that much.
