I downloaded mini kies on a fairly clean vista build on one of my laptops lastnight and flashed my vibrant. The whole process took 25 minutes. The phone did its last reboot and hung at the boot screen for an hour. I pulled the battery and rebooted. My vibrant is on froyo now. Avatar got borked but all of my data and apps are there and functional. Overall I am loving my vibrant a lot more! The main apps are a bit better, even the movie player has more options. The camera has more settings and IMO takes better pics in low light. There are a bunch of improvements but some things are the same. Like battery life still sucks and there is still lag. Especially when I go into apps and takes 10 seconds for my apps to appear. I am still tweaking it but am satisfied overall.

Welcome to 2.2 Froyo. :) Some people seem to have problem playing Avatar after the update. Mine works fine. Try this. This seems to work for people having problems with Avatar DRM. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage applications>All>DRM Protected Content Storage>Clear Data. Then reboot and hold down power button til you see Vibrant screen and let go of the power button. Then try playing the movie again. If it still doesn't work, give it couple of minutes as it is reacquiring DRM data from the network. Reboot and try playing the movie again.

As for battery life, you just flashed last night. It takes couple of cycles for your battery to show somewhat accurate figures. Battery life is going to be huge improvement over your previous 2.1 JI6. Trust me, JI6 was like a vampire for most people.

It should not take 10 seconds for your app list to show. 2.2 KA6 should be smooth even without lagfix. Reboot your phone and try again.

Try out Mobile AP if you haven't already. It's under Settings>Wireless Network. It's built-in Wireless Tethering. :) It creates Wifi Hotspot good up to 5 devices. And it creates true infrastructure mode connection instead of ad hoc like Wifi-tether or Barnacles App. What this mean is you can connect any devices, even PSP, PS3, DS, etc which require infrastructure mode. Also check out Wifi Calling. It allows you to call and receive voice calls using any Wifi. It does use your plan minutes but it can come in handy in places with strong wifi and weak or no cell signals.

You couldn't be more accurate with that statement.
I was using an IP4 for a while and I got a Vibrant for cheap so I decided to give Android a fair turn.
In the first few days I was like WTF ??
Its like some battery vampire sucking the crap out of it.
I was so damm spoiled with the battery life on the IP4.
After flashing it with a custom ROM, I'm starting to enjoy my Android phone.
