Hello everyone. I've been looking to get my brother off his POS metro phone so i've been looking around at plans at the t-mobile $30 /month seems really awesome. I figured I could use an android phone with google voice so the 100 mins wouldn't be an issue and the 5gb of data wouldn't really ever get used up. My brother currently pays like $40 a month and can't even get MMS which sucks just sending a quick pic to his phone of our nephew or niece.

Is there any plans comparable to the t-mobile $30 a month plan from other carriers? What are some phone suggestions going t-mobile? I've been thinking moto e, lumia 520/635. Trying to keep the phone cost to <$150.

I'm not totally stuck on t-mobile, but it seems like that carrier is making great strides for their customers so I'd rather go with them. I was even considering their 100/month unlmt talk text and 10gb of data offer they have. I'd need to get a few of the same phone if i went that route.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I don't think you can do the VOiP thing with Google Voice anymore since they shutdown third party support in May. But for me the 100 minutes has been fine, I don't talk much on the cell phone anyway.

The Nokia phones are decent for their price. But I'd probably look for a Moto G US GSM edition (not the Unlocked International one). It looks like this can sometimes be found for under $100 and has a nicer display.

Yeah, I think the Lumia 521 or 635, MotoG or a used Nexus 4 would be your best bets.

From what I read GV VOIP still works, but I already had found an alternative :S

I got unlimited data but throttled at 5gb. And truth be told even with HD netflix I've never come close to that.

No one else has quite the same deal as Tmobile. If you have one of the old unlimited plans from Verizon or Sprint then good on you. But if you are just jumping on board now you can forget about that.

Vonage app

Supposedly Vonage is ending their promotion...

http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/25uw86/vonage_mobile_app_updated_free_gv/chlgqr7

"Effective September 24th we will be ending our Free Calling Promotion, free calls to the U.S. will require that the people you call are Vonage Mobile users. You can continue calling friends and family who don’t have the app for just 1¢/min. Simply go to the “More” section to buy calling credits and share the app with other people. Data rates apply."

But that link doesn't work anymore?
