1000 minutes (Gold Rewards bonus is already factored into a $100 refill).

$100 add-on gets 1150 minutes, not 1000 minutes. 15% bonus.

Not true. $100 always gets you 1000 minutes -- whether initially or added to an already Gold account.

Here's the explanation: Originally, $100 refills were worth 870 minutes and an account went Gold at $101. A lot of people complained though and thought that they should be Gold at $100 so T-mobile changed the value of the $100 refill so that customers would get the 15% bonus with the the first $100 refill.

Just be aware that being a pre-paid customer doesn't count as "being an existing customer" for purposes of promotions. I've had t-mobile prepaid for probably 7 years or so. I can't preorder one of the 2nd generation android phones because they don't consider me an "existing customer". So even though I've been with them for so long, they don't want my money to switch to a "real" plan. Yes, they've got the cheapest pay as you go rates but they've also got crap for customer service and crap for coverage if you don't live near a large metropolis.

(as long as that doesn't both you, that's a good deal the OP posted)

well, i was with virgin mobile for 4-years, never got any promotions, they only gave out horrible customer service really bad phone service. have tried net10 and trackfone also, i consider these the absolute worse.

att/verizon have lousy pre-paid rates, they prefer a month-to-month plan so they can jack up the prices with taxes and fees.

1000 minutes for $100 seems really good, compare for yourself:
* Virgin Mobile - $90 Top-Up Wireless Card - 450 mins good for 1-year
* Net Ten - 1000-Minute Prepaid Wireless Airtime Card $100 - good for 180-days

If you have an 850/1900 phone (which applies to all currently sold models), you can use domestic roaming for free and get very good coverage.

Even though, I've always been able to get what I needed from T-Mobile customer service but it's always a terrible hassle; primarily because it's very hard to converse with the rep over the incredible din. They must all be sitting at a single table elbow to elbow with no partitions.

I think you have them mistaken with Sprint.

Anyhow, this also applies to just the SIM activation kit (if you already have a compatible phone). Also remember when buying a phone/sim you can also get 35% Bing Cashback.

When will I get my bonus minutes?

Gold Rewards minutes are received on the NEXT refill card you redeem after you have officially qualified. More specifically, you will receive bonus minutes on the refill card redeemed after the one that carries you over the $100 refill mark. But, if you purchase a $100 refill card, bonus minutes are already included in that card

So this is like almost too good to be true. So when you buy a $100 refill, you get 1000 minutes which already included the 15%. In other words, the cheapest you can get using the service is 10c per minute with the $100 card.

You can actually do better than that if you buy your refills from one of the online vendors that specialize in phone cards and look for promotion codes. For example, CallingMart usually features holiday promotional discounts of 12% -- which result in a net cost of less than 9¢ per minute.

Thanks for the information. I will be watching out for it.

Incidentally, the prepaid Sidekick plan ($1/day every day, $0.15/min voice, unlimited data/texts) is about the cheapest you can get for a prepaid data plan. I'm using it with my iPhone, ordered a SIM online and activated it, got the $10 credit immediately.

got my phone, added the $100/1000 min card and they are giving 30 mins extra over 3 mos. so far, so good.
