Given a proper diet (only the reccomended amount of dog food each day, no matter how much they beg), and exercise, beagles don't have to get fat. Mine is in decent shape, although the cats can still outrun him . My boss's has free reign of a huge yard, and it's quite skinny.

And you really cant find a cuter dog then a beagle. There's just something about those ears...
