T-bird running at 89C . . . too hot?

XMan

Lifer
That's nearly two hundred degrees fahrenheit - how hot are these little bad boys supposed to be running, anyway?

Wow that is REALLY hot. Maybe your temp readings are off? Your temps should be at least 30C LOWER than what it is now..... What are you using for cooling ?

Your CPU must be a pile of goo by now!!!! Yes thats way too hot. Your mb temp is probably misreporting.

Umm.. AMD says 90C, is their breaking point, but the test this while the CPU isn't doing anything. I think they shine a light at it or something. It can't be running that hot, most won't run past about 55C.

Holy CRAP!
😉
Give us some specs...
MB
Thermister placement
Cooling
Compound
Windows utility, bios and MB monitor temps all agree?

WOW that is really hot. I hope your not trying to cool your processor by blowing on it. 😀 Even a stock fan should keep it around 54C. My 850 T-bird is at 47C and that's with a stock fan. How many fans are you running in the case? You really need to start moving some air in the case.

umm, i have a 1ghz TB that runs at about 53c under load, and thats with a alpha 6035 and 2 92mm fans blowing in at it, on an A7V. personally i think my temps are too high.

HardOCP ran a TBird up to 256F for one of their HSF reviews (They did this by leaving turn the fan off).

But 89C is WAY too hot. Make sure that your heatsink is touching the CPU.

Hmm.

Well, I got the motherboard shipped with the heatsink already attached, and it looks like it is properly attached. No play or anything.

The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-7ZX. The chip is a T-bird 750, at 903, at 1.75V. The heatsink is a Chrome Orb with Arctic Silver thermal paste.

just give the HS a touch and see if it feels like 89 c, and btw, do not trust Sandra from any of their readings cause its all off, WAY off.

The heatsink is warm to the touch . . . I'd say about 90 to 100 degrees.

Jojo - I don't know about the scaling thing. My room is freezing, but it says the case temp is 78 degrees. So it might be off quite a bit. It's like 50 in my apartment.

Motherboard Monitor is not reading the temp right, but it is reporting a core voltage of 1.92V?!? The MB Bios is report 1.75, so I don't know what the heck is going on.

89C? You do know some form of cooling (i.e. heatsink) is supposed to go on these CPUs right? 😉

LOL,

Dyslexia for cure found. 😛

Just kidding. Late night typing and drifting brain power does this to me all the time.
