I am running an Asus P4c800 Deluxe board and 3 Western Digital drives.
I was running 2x ATA100 HDDs. Last week I bought my third drive (SATA 150) and popped it in. The system recognized it so I ghosted over my C partition. I then booted the system back up and set it to boot off the SATA drive. It said there was a CMOS error. I unhooked my original boot drive (ATA100) and tried again. Badabing it booted. I then tried booting with the SATA and the other ATA100 and it booted fine again. For some reason my system will NOT boot from the SATA drive with 2 ATA100 drives hooked up!!
The owner's manual says ANY combination up to 4 ATA100 and 2SATA drives is acceptable but for some reason it's not working. I have tried EVERYTHING with the jumper pins and it's a no go. Any suggestions?
The BIOS does recognize that I have all 3 drives connected and it allows me to set the SATA drive as primary boot but the system always says there's a CMOS error if I have 2xATA100 and 1xSATA and I boot off of the SATA. I can sucessfully boot off of the ATA and have all drives recognized.
