Last hardware change 2 weeks ago , swapped 2100ddr for ddr400
(Have rebooted /shut down several times since)
ati9000AIW
1gb ddr400
3HD
nec dvdrw
mobo Aopen MK-87(i believe??)
754 Athlon64+ 3000

well here's the deal...

system tries to fire up and shuts down immedietely...(before bios beep almost a beep actually)

Q-pack case so I figured possible power supply...swapped in a working PSU did the same thing...

but...
If i pull the 4 pin 12v P4 power plug from the mobo everything lights up(fans Leds HD's, AGP,Cpu fan etc...but nothing CPU isn't working...I'm assuming because it uses a majority of the its juice from the 12v 4pin P4 plug....does it?

it does the same thing with both psu's(on aspire one antec)

so whats bad? mobo or cpu...

The CPU is retail, but i don't have another 754 mobo to test it in...

i don't want to be throwing around any more money than i have too...
I/'m going to try swapping memory out...disconnected all of the HD's...

Any ideas...
and thanks
kel

your power supply could still be the problem it may not have even juice or the cord could be defective, otherwise it could be your mobo, because a computer can still turn on without a CPU

I'll try a different cord..possible
yah it looks like I'm going to hacve to get another mobo just to test the CPU out anyway...

Any ideas on why the mobo would power up with out the 4pin molex plugged in? on both PSU's...

I was thinking that was for CPU use only...
but I'm not sure...
thanks for the reply

it is, it makes the system more stable, but they work without them, because my mom use to have a mobo without the 12v until I took care of that, but it can make your system flakey without it

but plugging in your 12v could be the problem, the 12v slot could be causing the problem if you get the same problem with different power supplies
