System won't load Windows

Problem started: System was running, then rebooted on it's own.

What's happening: System restarts, gives 1 normal beep, then gives the safe mode, start Windows normally, etc...option screen.

With any selection on the list, it'll give a quick blue screen, not enough time to see the errors on it, then reboot.

Things i've tried:

1. Different memory/different slots
2. Put another hard drive in. Mine to be specific, where I actually got the which operating system to boot to menu (few OS's on my drive), but this time it gives me an error of there was a problem with the systems config (or something along those lines) and wouldn't load Windows
3. Cleared CMOS

Mobo: Biostar M7NCG 400
CPU: XP 2600 Barton 333Mhz
RAM: 512Mb 184 DDR 333

I know it could probably be a few different things, but is there anyway I could narrow it down to something specific?

Thanks for any help 🙂

That can be caused by a hard drive going bad. Test her drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic disk and see what happens.

It could be all kinds of things. If safe mode and last known good don't help, then you could try just booting with the XP CD into Recovery Console, and then doing a chkdsk of the drive in question to see if that helps at all - and you might check in c:\windows\minidumps for a bunch of .dmp files to see if it's actually writing something to disk.

Also, with XPSP2, IIRC, you can turn off the auto-restart-if-BSOD at the bootup screen...that would be helpful...
