just got done installing p4 2.4c 800fsb, asus p4p800 deluxe, and 2x512mb of corsair xms ram. stuck in my vid card (geforce3), plugged in my wd 120gb hd. anyways, bios runs its tests and finds cpu/ram, looks all good and it starts to boot into windows. i see the windowsxp splash screen, and i get a really quick blue screen and my system restarts back to bios. keeps doing this... what could be wrong? no o/c done, all default bios settings

Maybe XP isn't liking your new setup. Is this a fresh install or are you using this from a previous setup? You might have to format...

If you're trying to re-use your previous Windows installation, that's probably the problem. Put your drive back into your previous system, back up your data, then put it into the new system and reinstall Windows, is what I'd do.

On the hardware side of things, you may want to try backing off your memory timings to 2.5-3-3-8 to get started with, maybe boost the memory voltage to 2.7 volts as well.

It sounds like your getting a BSOD when windows try's to load, if this is an old install of windows you'll need to repair the install to make it work, if this is a fresh install, you prob. need to back off on your ram timings and / or up the voltage to the ram to make stuff run stable. Hope this helps... 🙂

You could try booting from the WinXP Install CD, and then installing XP again. Could save time, could be a disaster. 😀

(I'd try it first, though, before I reformatted) YMMV...
