System won't boot, does it have anything to do with CMOS battery? NEED HELP PLZ.. :(

System spec is as following.
Asus P2B
Celeron 600
GeForce 2 MX
128 PC133 Memory

The problem? The system won't boot, whenever I turn on the switch, HD and graphic card are the only two devices running, the fan on the CPU isn't running at all.
I tested the CPU on another computer, it worked, and I also tested another CPU on this board, same result.
Therefore, I took the battery out, and measured the level of power left, it showed it's in low condition.
Do you think the problem is with the battery?
Need some helpful advices.

okay. try a new CMOS first. it's cheap. if not, grab a multimeter and start testing the power to the board. test all 3.3, 5 and 12V. you will amazed what poor/bad PS can do.

not necessarily...the CMOS will auto-setup itself when you power up the comp. try a different video card(or reseat the current one). also check the PS like minnie mentioned

If you pull the battery on the mb, you loose all your CMOS settings.

Suggestion, try reseating the memory chips, remove all unnecessary cards (i.e. network cards, sound cards) , just keep video. Try booting then.

I agree with minnie also that the p/s needs to be tested. Can you try a different p/s? How old is it? The battery won't keep the computer from POST, it will just boot up with default CMOS settings. Do you get any beeps?

you need to set the slocket voltage to 1.8V & you should also have the latest m/board bios installed!
your m/board most likely can't supply the low default voltage requested by the cpu hence no boot.

First thing unplug the computer then clear the cmos if it still wont boot up you need to start unhooking things first unhook all flopy and IDE cables from the motherboard after you do this REMEMBER to unplug the power supply and plug it back in to reset the power supply and system board also unhook the power plugs from the flopy cd rom and hard drives.next if it still wont boot take out every thing but the video card then unpluge the power cord again for a minet then try it keep doing this and yes even unhook the LED's one time the hard drive light ulmost caught me off gard it was shorted and the system would not boot as for the battery it would have to be shorted to stop the board from posting...

the last one was dead...
