I'm thinking it is a virus, but a program is ALWAYS changing the color settings from 32 bit to 4 bit. It will automatically change it when I try to switch it to 32 bit. Video drivers are installed properly. Running a kaspersky virus scan right now. What do you think?

Kaspersky has found two viruses so far. one is the kepper win32 trojan virus and the other it is uncertain on what it is. They are both in a temp folder. I just wonder why I can't change my color settings. What can this be?

I'm in safe mode right now and it will go into 32 bit just fine. I think that it could be affiliated with a program that is ALWAYS in start up called NEWDOT~2 because everytime I uncheck that item it goes back checked. I also searched for that registry entry and deleted it but it came back.

Thanks for reading,
Stu

Are you behind any sort of firewall? the oly thing I have seen similar is using currupt or incompatible drivers... What card and drivers are you using. Try downloading the latest final drivers from the card producer (nVidia, ATI, etc.).

They are not behind a firewall and I will try to download the video drivers for their dell dimension 4400 PC. I'm wondering why the drivers would work fine in safe mode, but not in normal mode.
