Hello!
I want to upgrade my System! But which Board? Grafikscard and RAM??
Now I have an Athlon TB 1ghz C Type
KT7A
GeForce DDR
and 256MB PC133 Infineon!
But that system is very unstable, dont know why!
have currently 30° and fulloud 36-38° (watercooling).
Shall i buy a ALi Chipset board or KT333? or which one? and which gc? radeon 7500? gf3 ti200?
and i can pay till 600 USD!

thx for help!

For ALi the XP333-R is a nice board. As for KT333, I'd wait for KT333A, myself...it's confirmed that there's gonna be one, and it's going to be much more feature rich than the KT333. As for current Via solutions, the KT266A is a viable choice. Epox, Soltek, Asus, Soyo.. lots of manufacturers make em, and it all comes down to personal preference. I like Epox's 8KHA+ myself, mainly since I've had real good luck with the thing, and it overclocks well and stays stable, as long as ya don't push it too far.

So, I guess my recommendation if you got a system tomorrow, would be..

Epox 8KHA+ or IWill XP333
GF3 Ti200
512mb Crucial PC2100 DDR

If you're looking for onboard features like RAID, sound, etc, take a look at Soyo's solution.. the Dragon Plus.. it's got everything but the kitchen sink, and, speaking from personal experience, their KT266 version of the board worked quite well, considering the buggy chipset used at the time. If you're going for budget, try the ECS K7S5A. Using this board, you'd be able to use either your existing PC133 or DDR, so you could save some cash by not having to get new RAM as well.

Really, it just all boils down to what you wanna use the computer for, and what your priorities are. I chose Epox in the end due to it's stability, overclockability, and strong online following and easy access to knowledgable help. Anyway, good luck.. hope this helps 🙂

hm, the iwill xp333 is an ali magic chipset right? and is that chipset stable?
i heard that i can only oc with the jumpers! its not jumperless like abit or epox!
I thought about the epox! but it doesnt have raid, and raid is very important for me!
so, the kr7a raid is nice, but very expensive

The IWIll board's stable, and it uses the newest revision of the ALi chipset. The FSB and multiplier are in the BIOS, but the vdimm settings are controlled via jumpers. So, it is possible to o/c in the BIOS, but to change RAM voltages, you have to use jumpers.

I've read good stuff all around about the ABit board. If it's too expensive, you could look at the MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU which features RAID and USB 2.0 for about $20 less than the ABit RAID board on Newegg.com.

What's your budget? Get the fastest video card you can afford although at this stage I'd advise you to hold off until February when the GF4s are released.

I would buy a GeForce3 TI200! but I can wait for the G4 MX, maybe the MX version is faster than the ti200?

and, is the MSI a good board? is it stable and good oc able?
