System upgrade, video or cpu?

Here is my question, I am just about to purchase an upgrade to my system which will be consequently followed by another, both the video and the cpu will be upgraded but I am just wondering in what order.

Currently I have a 300a celeron running at 450, I am going to upgrade to a c633 and attempt to run at 950

I have a v3 2000 for video currently, but am wondering if I up my cpu to a 950 celeron should I continue with getting an asus gf 2 mx or should I get something else.

Or will a cpu be a waste for now if I am just going to get a gf 2 mx since it can be a bottleneck

this is all in theory though since it is quite possible that my future 633 will not hit 950

any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

I totally disagree, the Voodoo 3 is matched perfect with it. Getting a geforce may help a little, but the CPU is definaltly the slow down. Iam runnign right now with a TB 1ghz with a voodoo 3 3000 and its plently fast enough.

I would think that if you are a gamer, the GF 2 MX would be a better option

Without a doubt get the cpu. You can wait a little longer for a new video card. That v3 should be ok for a few more months.

well I can just about afford the celeron 633 and that is it, dont want a duron cause i dont want to buy a new board and stuff, so I guess the cpu it is and then wait till the mx cards are cheaper or till I get the cash saved up

well I am interested in gaming but I also want better system performance overall, I really like the idea of getting sof with the asus card bundled but I dont want to get a 150 dollar gf2 mx if my processor is going to majorly hold it back, I can get the celeron 2 633 for 90 bucks now and a slocket for 17 which is a little less than the video card but will be more of a pain to configure. Oh well if there are any more suggestions/ways of looking at it they would be greatly appreciated thanks

Anyone who has had a voodoo and upgraded to ge force will tell you to go with the grafics card 100 percent no doubt. I made that same upgrade a while back and it is a HUGE DIFFERENCE. when I finally up'd the processor it was great too, but not as dramatic as the grafics card upgrade.

I had a pii 400@533| voodoo 3 3000 agp and i got a ge force ddr then i got a piii 550 which i run now @ 730 thats the system my son uses for gaming and it runs great..

Yeah, luvrambus, I was using 2 12mb Voodoo2's in SLI mode and then I bought a Geforce2 gts 32mbDDR. It was like night and day.
