System Upgrade time ...

So here's what I'm thinking ... I have 1gb pc2700 Mushkin ram ... so I'd like to keep that.

amdXP2000+
MSI KT333 Ultra ARU mobo

I don't want to spend the $$$ on a whole new system, or upgrade more than I need. I have a nice video card and big HD ...

Mobo:

CPU:

Just swap out the mobo and CPU and I should be good to go ... other options I should consider? I know the KT333 can take on a faster CPU ... but how much faster?

A socket A XP 3200+ is hard to find and not very fast compared to even the cheapest A64's.

What use, games? What video card?

It might make sense to sell the video card and move to PCI-E. The Biostar TForce 6100-939 is a nice budget board, or an Asus A8N-E if you need more PCI slots.

It might make sense to save $50 and just get an X2 4200+. It's fast enough to pair with a 7900GT.

Dave, thanks for the quick reply!

9800PRO AIW ... I play a little CS now and then, but I'm not a "gamer" ...

I want to start doing some development work from home. Slightly spoiled at work with a good machine ... home feels sluggish (just reformatted like 5 months ago) ...

I also want a dual monitor setup, so I'm debating on forgoing the system upgrade for a couple ViewSonic VX922's ...

Can't really justify spending the $$$ on both ...
